  4. The buildings of the former Lutheran Church
  5. front |Nevsky Prospekt|Custom1|O:267| section between Bolshaya 
  6. and Malaya Koniushennaya Streets.
  7. The architecture is Romanesque, which is not 
  8. characteristic for Petersburg.
  9. The first kirk was built here in 1730. The spacial 
  10. and compositional arrangement of the ensemble, 
  11. with the church building positioned at the back of 
  12. the lot and the two dwelling houses symmetrically 
  13. on both sides of it, was retained during the 
  14. construction of a new church. The  architecture 
  15. is Romanesque, which is not characteristic for 
  16. Petersburg. The main facade is slit by the portal 
  17. arch. On the first floor the motif of an open 
  18. loggia was used. Two three-tier turrets over the 
  19. corners of the facade, which is in itself rather 
  20. short, give an impression of an upwards urge. 
  21. Behind the church there is the building of the 
  22. school that is the oldest in the city, and dates 
  23. back to 1710. The building of the |Peterschule|Custom1|O:101| 
  24. (erected by M.Hoffmann in 1760-62 in Baroque 
  25. style) was later rebuilt, in 1876 and 1915.
