- Nevsky Prospekt, 22-24
- 1832-38 Architect A.Briullov
-
- The buildings of the former Lutheran Church
- front |Nevsky Prospekt|Custom1|O:267| section between Bolshaya
- and Malaya Koniushennaya Streets.
- The architecture is Romanesque, which is not
- characteristic for Petersburg.
- The first kirk was built here in 1730. The spacial
- and compositional arrangement of the ensemble,
- with the church building positioned at the back of
- the lot and the two dwelling houses symmetrically
- on both sides of it, was retained during the
- construction of a new church. The architecture
- is Romanesque, which is not characteristic for
- Petersburg. The main facade is slit by the portal
- arch. On the first floor the motif of an open
- loggia was used. Two three-tier turrets over the
- corners of the facade, which is in itself rather
- short, give an impression of an upwards urge.
- Behind the church there is the building of the
- school that is the oldest in the city, and dates
- back to 1710. The building of the |Peterschule|Custom1|O:101|
- (erected by M.Hoffmann in 1760-62 in Baroque
- style) was later rebuilt, in 1876 and 1915.
