  7. In the 1790s the mansion for Countess 
  8. Vorontsova was erected on the Fontanka near 
  9. the |Anichkov Bridge|Custom1|O:47|. In the early 19th century 
  10. her house was bought by the Court 
  11. Ober-Jagdtmeister D.Naryshkin.In 1821-22 he 
  12. added an attachment to the building which 
  13. housed a large dancing-hall decorated with 
  14. reliefs devoted to the subjects of the Trojan War 
  15. and plafonds painted by D.Scotti, as well as the 
  16. ômuseumö room.In the 1820s Naryshkin's Palace 
  17. was a place well known in Petersburg. The balls 
  18. and receptions there were attended by the flower 
  19. of the society. The palace was frequented by 
  20. P.Viazemsky, V.Zhukovsky, A.Pushkin and 
  21. others.In 1918 the Museum of the Mode of Life 
  22. was opened here. In 1925 the rich Shuvalov's 
  23. collections were transferred to the Hermitage 
  24. and other museums.
