  4. In 1837 a wooden building of the first Russian 
  5. railway station was erected in Petersburg. In the 
  6. same year the first train in Russia covered the 
  7. distance between Petersburg to Tsarskoye Selo. 
  8. In 1849-52 the first stone station building was put 
  9. up (architect K.Thon). The present station is 
  10. designed in Art-Nouveau style. The asymmetrical 
  11. structure is spanned with an original glass 
  12. cupola. The decoration of this utility building 
  13. includes a clock tower, large semicircular 
  14. windows and ornamental bas-reliefs.
