  7. ENHANCED and NEW FEATURES   
  8.  
  9. INSTALLATION: 
  10. Installation is now much easier but also much more powerful with many more menu
  11. choices. 
  12.   
  13. Improved ONLAN: 
  14. > ONLAN/PC is now compatible with NACS/NASI.  That is, ONLAN/PC users will be
  15. able to reach an Access Server by calling out through a NACS. 
  16. > Several improvements in ONFILE have been made including: 
  17.       - An easier to use menu driven interface. 
  18.       - XMODEM support. 
  19.       - The ability to see files. 
  20. > Scripting is now available which will allow "automation" such as dialing back
  21. at a particular time. 
  22.  
  23. Memory: 
  24. > The configuration of base RAM is somewhat more efficient which should result
  25. in APPROXIMATELY the following increases: 
  26.       - With CGA +94K 
  27.       - With MDA +84K 
  28.       - With HGC +50K 
  29.       - With VGA & EGA +75K  
  30. > Expanded Memory was formerly restricted to 400K per session.  The amount can
  31. now be selected by the Administrator.

  33. Map Root
  34. Map Root is now supported.
  35.  
  36. Waiting Cue 
  37. If someone calls into the Access Server when all of the sessions are in use they
  38. will be placed in a waiting cue and given a session when one becomes available. 
  39.    
  40. 16 Sessions: 
  41. 16 DOS sessions are now available instead of the past limitation of 15. 
  42.  
  43. More 3270 Sessions 
  44. All 16 sessions can now be 3270. 
  45.  
  46. Micro Channel Compatibility:

  49. Cards in Addition to WNIM+ and WNIMZ80: 
  50.       - Two IBM 16 bit Microchannel Cards 
  51.              - IBM Realtime Interface Coprocessor Multiport (ARTIC)

  53.       - Two Newport Systems Cards 
  54.              - ACI (Asynchronous Communications Interface) 8 Port 
  55.              - XCI (X.25 communications interface) 2 Port 
  56.       - 12 Specialix Cards   
  57.              - SI/4, SI/8, SI/8-422, SI/PS16        16 Bit 
  58.              - SI/PS4, SI/PS8, SI/PS8-422, SI/PS16  Microchannel 
  59.              - SI/E4, SI/E8-422, SI/E16             32 Bit 
  60. NOTE: Some of these cards have 8 or 16 ports thereby decreasing the number of
  61. cards required to support 16 connections.

  63. Improved X.25 Support: 
  64. THe XCI Card will enable a user to send up to 16 Access Server Sessions through
  65. a single X.25 line. 
  66.  
  67. Carrier Detect (CD): 
  68. Modems and particularly multiplexers that brought CD high when powered on
  69. formerly where difficult to use with Access Server and CD had to be tied to DTR
  70. to correct the problem.  This will no longer be required.  
  71.  
  72. IPX Connection: 
  73. In addition to connecting directly and over telephone lines it will now be
  74. possible to connect via a NetWare LAN. 
  75.  
  76. Additional Modems: 
  77. Many additional modems are now supported including the Hayes Ultra 9600 and
  78. modems capable of speeds up to 38.4KBS.

  81. Leased Line 
  82. Leased line support has been improved. 
  83.  
  84. Increased NetBIOS Support: 
  85. A patch will be available which will allow up to 16 NetBIOS sessions.

  87. View Indicator: 
  88. An option is available to show a "happy face" a corner of the workstation screen
  89. if a console operator is viewing the workstation's session. 
  90.  
  91. Appletalk Support: 
  92. MacIntoshes will be able to connect via Appletalk if NetWare 3.11 and NetWare
  93. for MacIntosh 3.0 is used.  
  94.  
  95. Sessions on Console 
  96. The Access Server machine can now be used as a workstation.  Such DOS sessions
  97. will have 20K more RAM than "remote" DOS sessions. 
  98.    
  99. Increased Security: 
  100. - Administrators will now be able to force connection and/or LOGIN to a
  101. particular file server. 
  102. - Support for encryption devices and other third party that enhance security
  103. such as secure modems. 
  104. - Dialback can now be from a specified port. 
  105. - The Administrator can now control the length of time a session will be held
  106. suspended awaiting reconnection. 
  107.  
  108. Added Management Functionality: 
  109. > The console can now be used by the Administrator from a remote workstation
  110. this includes the ability to reset ports and sessions remotely. 
  111. > Individual and group User Profiles cab now be written which among other
  112. things: 
  113.       - Restrict the number of sessions per user. 
  114.       - Restrict the amount of time available on the system to the user. 
  115. > The console screen can now show either IPX statistics or port statistics. 
  116. This should help trouble shooting significantly.

  118. > New audit trail tools. 
  119.  
  120. COST 
  121. - The upgrade is free for customers who purchased Access Server on or after
  122. 4/1/91. 
  123.  
  124. - If Access Server was purchased before 4/1/91 the upgrade price is $875. 
  125.  
  126. - The Upgrade may be purchased from a Novell Gold or Platinum Reseller or
  127. directly from Novell (800-346-7177).  Customers outside the U.S. and Canada
  128. should contact their local Novell Authorized Reseller.
