Novell Introduces "NetWare Ready" DR DOS LANPacks
Allows easy upgrade of client operating system from the server
MONTEREY, Calif., -- May 5, 1992 -- Novell, Desktop Systems Group today
announced DR DOS LANPacks for Novell NetWare users. The LANPacks provide:
* Remote install and configuration from the server
* Complete NetWare workstation tools for DOS and Windows
* 100 percent Windows 3.1 compatibility
* Economical pricing
"DR DOS LANPack is designed to assist our customers in taking the hassle
out of upgrading and getting the performance benefits of the latest DOS
technology on nodes across the network," said John Edwards, executive vice
president of Novell, Desktop Systems Group. "Now users can install DR
DOS LANPacks once on the server saving all the time and money associated
with multiple installations at various sights."
The DR DOS LANPack builds on the benefits of DR DOS 6.0 by adding remote
installation and configuration features and NetWare workstations tools for
DOS and Windows. The DR DOS LANPack is installed once on the NetWare
server. The network administrator can update users login script and
pre-configure DR DOS which can be automatically downloaded onto client PCs
with the latest NetWare shell(NETX), all without user disruption.
The "NetWare ready" DR DOS LANPack includes the NetWare workstation kits
for DOS/Windows. It supports Windows 3.0 and 3.1 and includes: advanced
versions of the NetWare client shell and SPX/IPX drivers; extended and
expanded memory shell options; burst-mode protocol that dramatically
improves network performance; and new Windows workstation tools and
enhanced network installations program for Windows' users.
DR DOS 6.0 is the most advanced DOS in the industry, offering more memory
to run applications, increased disk capacity through built-in compression
technology, and a high-performance disk cache. DR DOS 6.0 is fully
compatible with Microsoft Windows 3.0 and 3.1, and offers enhanced Windows
performance by optionally reconfiguring the client PCs using DR DOS'
memory and disk management technology. "My compatibility problems were
solved instantly with the DR DOS Business Update," said Peter M. DaCosta,
GumTree Graphics. It was easy to install and my copy of Windows 3.1 runs
flawlessly."
DR DOS LANPacks are available in 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 250 user versions.
Suggested retail price applies to the United States and Canada only and is
