ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. Map Edit Options ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Map Edit Options
The three options here will let you to edit nodes appearing on the map.
Edit
Select to edit servers or workstations.
Sort by
Select how you want the list to be sorted; by node name or address (the network
cable address).
View
Select to view only the duplicate nodes, all nodes, or only those nodes on a
particular cable segment. If you choose cable you must enter the cable segment
address.
View - Displays the nodes based on the parameters entered.
Save and Exit - Saves your changes and returns you to the opening menu.
Cancel - Does not save your changes and returns you to the opening menu.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Edit Nodes ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Edit Nodes
Select a node by clicking once on the node box.
Name - The name of the node.
Services - The services available on the server. Services include
FS = File PS = Print AS = Access CS = Communication BTR = Btrieve RTR =
Routing SNA = SNA Gateway SQL = SQL INS = Instrumented
Addr Net - Network address.
State - The state of the node is either valid or invalid depending on when the
last response was received from the node.
Last resp - The date and time the console received a response from the node.
Node - The internal node number.
Validate - Validates an invalid node.
Invalidate - Invalidates a valid node.
Delete - Deletes a node from the map data file.
Exit - Accepts the changes and returns you to the previous menu.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Edit Network Timeouts ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Edit Network Timeouts
This window allows you to modify the IPX/SPX timeout values. These values
should be increased if your network is slow and/or if you have several router
or bridge hops to cross.
Note - These values are tied very closely with the SPX protocol stack
timeouts. The SPX protocol stack timeouts are modified by the NET.CFG
file. You will have the opportuninty to modify this file during the
"Requestor Initialization" part of installation.
Node configuration details timeout -This value sets the amount of time (in
seconds) that the console waits for a response from a node. This value
will take precedence (if it is lower) over the SPX requester send,
listen, and verify timeouts.
Value range = 30 to 300 seconds.
Default = 30 seconds
Node offline detection timeout -This value sets the amout of time IPX waits to
detect an offline node.
Value range = 1 to 300 seconds.
Default = 5 seconds
Network Address and Timeout
You can set the IPX timeout value for individual cable segements. Enter the
segment address and the timeout value you want. The value you enter here will
take priority over the Node offline detection timeout above, but only for that
particular cable segment.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. New Address and Timeout ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
New Address and Timeout
Enter the network (cable segment) address you want to set a timeout value for.
Enter the timeout value in seconds.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. Map File Utility Options ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Map File Utility Options
Three options are available:
Edit map file
Allows you to edit the nodes showing on the map.
Edit network timeouts
Allows you to change the IPX/SPX timeout values.
Initialize map files
This option executes the MAPINIT program. This program inventories the network
and creates a database of network resources (servers, workstations, and
routers), from which the network map display is made.
