  33. 1. WHAT IS CATRAXX?

  36. CATraxx is a powerful 32-bit Windows application designed to 
  37. help you catalog and manage your music collection. Using CATraxx 
  38. you can quickly catalog CDs by downloading disc data from the 
  39. Internet CDDB database. CATraxx is easy-to-use for the amateur, 
  40. with sophisticated features for the professional.
  41.  
  42. CATraxx has a comprehensive set of fields for both albums and 
  43. tracks, enabling you to catalog information like artist, album 
  44. title, format (CDs, vinyl records, cassettes, videos etc.), 
  45. release year, label, catalog number, purchase price, current 
  46. value, music category, status (own, want, for sale etc.), 
  47. condition, playing time, song titles, songwriters, producers, 
  48. recording studios, musicians and instruments. You can store 
  49. an image of the album cover and add your own personal comments 
  50. for both albums and tracks.

  52. You can work with an unlimited number of databases. This 
  53. means you can split your collection into different catalogs 
  54. and organize it to meet your needs. CATraxx allows you to 
  55. change the name of all data fields. For example, you might want
  56. to rename Artist to Performer, Songwriter to Composer or Format 
  57. to Media. You can hide the fields you don't want to use. These 
  58. fields will disappear from all windows, menus, lists etc. This 
  59. way you can customize the database to suit your needs.

  61. You can effectively search the database for information that 
  62. you require. Search in all fields with any combination of 
  63. fields and operators. In addition, CATraxx lets you cross 
  64. reference up to five fields. This is an extremely flexible 
  65. way to search and query data.

  67. The report designer lets you create almost any type of report. 
  68. Use one of the pre-defined reports, or create your own from 
  69. scratch. You have full control over data fields, groups, sort 
  70. order, columns, fonts, colors, paper size, margins and print 
  71. orientation. CATraxx lets you preview reports on screen before 
  72. printing. Using CATraxx you can easily create professionally 
  73. looking reports with exactly the layout you want.

  75. With the HTML Generator you can quickly generate documents to 
  76. be published on the World Wide Web. The loan module lets you 
  77. keep track of albums on loan. Check the program periodically 
  78. to see what is still out on loan. You will always know who has 
  79. what and since when.

  81. The statistics function allows you to analyze your collection 
  82. in a variety of ways. CATraxx lets you track both initial 
  83. investment and the value of your collection. Use the backup 
  84. function to make backup copies of your valuable data. With 
  85. the built-in CD controller you can control the playback of 
  86. audio CDs in your CD-ROM player.

  88. CATraxx uses popup menus for quick feature access and 
  89. navigation. CATraxx comes with a sample database to get you 
  90. started and a comprehensive context sensitive on-line help 
  91. system.

  94. 2. FEE FOR DISTRIBUTION OF SHAREWARE VERSION

  97. Disk Vendors, Shareware Distributors and BBS(s) may have 
  98. charged a nominal fee for the distribution of the shareware 
  99. version of CATraxx. This fee does not constitute payment for 
  100. the licensed version of CATraxx, and does not entitle the 
  101. end-user to use the shareware version for longer than the 
  102. 30-day evaluation period.

  105. 3. TO INSTALL CATRAXX

  111. 1. Insert diskette number 1 into your diskette drive.
  112.  
  113. 2. From the Start menu, choose Run.
  114.  
  115.    You see the Run dialog box.
  116.  
  117. 3. In the Open text box, type the path to the installation 
  118.    program, for example A:\SETUP, and choose OK.
  119.  
  120. 4. Follow the instructions on the screen. When requested, 
  121.    specify the folder where you want to install CATraxx. 
  122.    Unless you specify a different folder, the application 
  123.    will be installed to C:\Program Files\CATraxx32.
  124.  
  125. 5. To start CATraxx, choose Programs / CATraxx 98 from the
  126.    Start menu

  128. From hard disk

  131. 1. Ensure that the CATraxx installation files 
  132.    
  133.       SETUP.EXE
  134.       SETUP.2
  135.       SETUP.3
  136.  
  137.    are in the same folder, for example C:\TMP.
  138.  
  139. 2. From the Start menu, choose Run.
  140.  
  141.    You see the Run dialog box.
  142.  
  143. 3. Type the path to the installation program in the Open 
  144.    text box, for example C:\TMP\SETUP, and choose OK.
  145.  
  146.    You can also double click SETUP.EXE from Windows Explorer.
  147.  
  148. 4. Follow the instructions on the screen. When requested, 
  149.    specify the folder where you want to install CATraxx. 
  150.    Unless you specify a different folder, the application 
  151.    will be installed to C:\Program Files\CATraxx32.
  152.  
  153. 5. When the installation is completed, you can delete the 
  154.    files (SETUP.EXE, SETUP.2 and SETUP.3) in the temporary 
  155.    folder.
  156.  
  157. 6. To start CATraxx, choose Programs / CATraxx 98 from the
  158.    Start menu

  164. 1. From the Start button, choose Settings / Control Panel.

  166. 2. In Control Panel, double click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

  168. 3. Locate CATraxx 98 in the program list.

  170.    Click on it to select it.

  172. 4. Click the Add/Remove button.
