  8. Thank you for downloading this English release of NPCOMM v1.50.
  9. Since very  important information  is contained in this document, please read 
  10. the entire of this document before using this software.

  13. Overview of this software
  14.   NPCOMM(Network Pseudo Communication port) is a software which offers the 
  15.   function to share COM ports on the LAN and the function to connect to telnetd
  16.   through COM port.
  17.   You can use this software for  sharing modem(s) on your LAN or connecting BBS
  18.   via Internet with a terminal software which has no TELNET ability.
  19.  
  20. Environment and requirement
  21.   NPCOMM v1.50 can works on Windows95, WindowsNT4.0, WindowsNT3.51.
  22.   PortServ.exe, which makes a machine a PortSharing server, can work on 
  23.   Windows95, WindowsNT3.51, NT4.0.
  24.   NPCOMM and PortServ are using TCP/IP as their transport protocol, so you have
  25.   to set up TCP/IP as network protocol on your LAN.

  52. Installing NPCOMM
  53.   This release of NPCOMM has no installer program.
  54.   At fist, please unpack all files from archive to appropriate directory.
  55.   [Windows95]
  56.   Simply start up NPCOMM.exe.
  57.   Working directory of NPCOMM.exe must be the same  as that of pcomm32_.vxd
  58.    and Win95tcp.dll.
  59.  
  60.   [WindowsNT]
  61.   First, you have to register pserial.sys to your system by using Instnp.exe.
  62.   And then, you can start up NPCOMM.exe.
  63.   
  64.   About PortServ, you can use PortServ.exe or PSS.exe.
  65.   If you want to start up PortServ as SERVICE, you have to register PortServ
  66.   to your system by using Instps.exe.

  68.   About detailed instruction of installing, please refer to NPCOMM.hlp

  70. Uninstalling NPCOMM
  71.   NPCOMM software doesn't require to copy any files to another directory.
  72.   So uninstalling is simple.
  73.   If you have registered PortServ or pserial.sys to your system,
  74.   please de-register it first.
  75.   Then remove all files you extracted from archive.
  76.  
  77.   About detailed instruction of uninstalling, please refer to NPCOMM.hlp.

  117.     Internet Explorer 4  is installed.
  118.     I fixed this by changing first part of protocol to PortServ.
