  8. This is the shareware version of ProKon, the metric conversion util-
  9. ity. ProKon is a 32-bit program and is intended to be run on Windows
  10. 95 or Windows NT.  This package should contain the following files.
  11. If it does not, you do not have the complete package and ProKon may 
  12. not operate properly.  Before installation the shareware version con-
  13. tains the following 14 files:

  15.      SETUP.EXE     -  The installation utility.
  16.      PROKON.HLP    -  The help file for ProKon.
  17.      CALC._LP      -  The help file for the ProKon calculator.
  18.      FILE_ID.DIZ   -  A description file for online services.
  19.      GEOMETRY._LL  -  Compressed program files.
  20.      ELEMENTS._TA  -  Data file for ProKon.
  21.      PROKON._XE    -  More compressed program files.
  22.      INORG._TA     -  Data file for ProKon.
  23.      GAUGE._TA     -  Data file for ProKon.
  24.      CHEMICAL._TF  -  Font file for ProKon.
  25.      CHEMICAL.FOT  -  Font definition file for ProKon.
  26.      REGFORM.TXT   -  The registration form for ProKon.
  27.      SITEREG.TXT   -  The site registration form for ProKon.

  30. After installation the shareware version contains 14 files:

  49. There are two ways to install ProKon.  You can use Windows 95 Explorer
  50. to show the files on the distribution diskette and 'double-click' on 
  51. the SETUP.EXE file or you can use the 'Run' menu item in the 'START' 
  52. menu on the Windows Task Bar.  For the second option, enter the 
  53. path to the SETUP.EXE file in the dialog box in the 'Run' window.  
  54. For example, entering
  55.                          A:\SETUP.EXE
  56.  
  57. would run the installation program if you were installing from the 
  58. "A-Drive". SETUP.EXE will copy the necessary files to your hard drive 
  59. and, if you prefer, SETUP will also create the Program Manager group 
  60. along with the necessary icons to run ProKon.

  62. NOTE: YOU MUST RUN THE SETUP PROGRAM TO INSTALL PROKON PROPERLY!

  64. ProKon is capable of making many different conversions, both to and 
  65. from metric and Imperial (English) as well as to and from many ancient 
  66. and archaic units. ProKon is capable of over 350,000 different conver-
  67. sions.  ProKon also gives the density of over 625 different materials, 
  68. some common and some not so common.  In addition, ProKon contains a 
  69. periodic table of the elements which allows access to pertinent data
  70. on each element and notebooks full of useful geometric formulas and
  71. constants.  ProKon has help available throughout and all conversions
  72. can be copied to the Windows clipboard for pasting to other documents.

  74. There is a Windows 3.1 version of ProKon available.  It's called SICon 
  75. and is available most places that ProKon is available.  Both versions 
  76. are capable of the same conversions.

  78. Remember, ShareWare is software you can try before you buy.  You are 
  79. entitled to evaluate ProKon for a period of sixty days.  If you try 
  80. ProKon and decide you like it, you are asked to pay the author the 
  81. registration fee of $16.50 + $3.00 shipping/handling.  You will 
  82. receive the latest version registered in your name.  The registered 
  83. version does not have the advertisement screens you see in the share-
  84. ware version.
