  15. This file provides information for user groups, online system
  16. adminstrators, and shareware vendors on the distribution of shareware
  17. (trial) versions of 4DOS, 4OS2, 4NT, Take Command/16, Take Command/32,
  18. and Take Command for OS/2.
  19.  
  20. We are glad to work with you in the distribution of our products, as
  21. online services, user groups, and vendors are a key part of the
  22. shareware distribution system.
  23.  
  24. To distribute our trial version files online, or provide links to them,
  25. you must clearly mark them as trial or shareware versions, and properly
  26. identify us as the author.  The products may NEVER be described in any
  27. way as as "free" software, or otherwise described as anything but trial
  28. versions requiring payment to the author for continued use.
  29.  
  30. Online services may not distribute registered or purchased versions of
  31. JP Software products for a fee without a written distribution agreement
  32. with us.
  33.  
  34. Before placing any JP Software product, or any part of any JP Software
  35. program package, in any user group, shareware, or other disk or CD
  36. library, or distributing shareware copies for a fee in any way, you must
  37. meet these conditions:
  38.  
  39.    * If you are a U.S.-based shareware vendor, you must be an approved
  40.      member of the Association of Shareware Professionals (ASP), and
  41.      your application must be fully approved in writing by the ASP, not
  42.      simply submitted or awaiting review.  If you are not an ASP member,
  43.      we cannot currently offer you permission to distribute our
  44.      products.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you,
  45.      but we have found that the administrative overhead required to
  46.      handle non-ASP vendors from within the U.S. is simply too high.
  47.  
  48.    * If you are a U.S.-based, non-profit, tax-exempt user group, you may
  49.      place shareware copies of our programs in your library without
  50.      prior written permission, provided you obtain your copy from one of
  51.      our upload locations (see below), and check regualrly to keep it up
  52.      to date.
  53.  
  54.    * If you are a vendor based outside the U.S., you must either be an
  55.      ASP member, or you must obtain prior written permission from us
  56.      before distributing our products.
  57.  
  58.    * If you distribute our products, you MUST obtain your copy directly
  59.      from one of our official upload locations:  Our Compuserve forum,
  60.      our web site or ftp site (both access the same physical set of
  61.      files), or the Channel 1 BBS.  Details on all locations are below.
  62.      
  63.    * CD-ROM distribution is permitted but ONLY if you contact us for
  64.      permission prior to starting distribution of any JP Software
  65.      product via CD-ROM.  You only need to contact us once for each
  66.      product, not separately for each edition of your CD-ROM.  We
  67.      reserve the right to revoke permission for CD-ROM distribution at
  68.      any time, and for any reason.  If we do so you must cease
  69.      distribution of our products on CD-ROM the next time your CD is
  70.      remastered after we notify you of the revocation.

  72.    * JP SOFTWARE DOES NOT PERMIT RETAIL RACK DISTRIBUTION OF OUR
  73.      PRODUCTS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.  Please do not contact us for
  74.      approval of rack distribution, as it will be denied.  This applies
  75.      even if you have distributed our products via rack or CD- ROM in
  76.      the past.
