  1. Sony Corporation BETA License Agreement 
  2.  
  3.            1.  Sony Corporation ("Sony") grants to you a non-exclusive,
  4.            non-sublicensable, license to use this Beta version of the 
  5.            Community Place Bureau 1.0 Beta 1 (the "Software"), in binary
  6.            executable form for evaluation and trial use purposes only.
  7.            THIS SOFTWARE CONTAINS CODE THAT DISABLES MOST OF ITS FEATURES
  8.            AFTER OCT. 31, 1996.

  10.            2.  SONY MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS ABOUT THE 
  11.            SUITABILITY OF THIS SOFTWARE OR ABOUT ANY CONTENT OR 
  12.            INFORMATION MADE ACCESSIBLE BY THE SOFTWARE, FOR ANY 
  13.            PURPOSE.  THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED 'AS IS' WITHOUT 
  14.            EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF 
  15.            MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR 
  16.            NONINFRINGEMENT.  THIS SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED 
  17.            GRATUITOUSLY AND, ACCORDINGLY, SONY SHALL NOT BE 
  18.            LIABLE UNDER ANY THEORY OR ANY DAMAGES SUFFERED BY YOU 
  19.            OR ANY USER OF THE SOFTWARE.  SONY WILL NOT SUPPORT 
  20.            THIS SOFTWARE AND WILL NOT ISSUE UPDATES TO THIS
  21.            SOFTWARE.

  23.            3.  All content accessed through the Software is the 
  24.            property of the applicable content owner and may be 
  25.            protected by applicable copyright law.  This License 
  26.            gives you no rights to such content.  
  27.  
  28.            4.  While Sony intends to distribute a commercial 
  29.            release of the Software, Sony reserves the right at 
  30.            any time not to release a commercial release of the 
  31.            Software or, if released, to alter prices, features, 
  32.            specifications, capabilities, functions, licensing 
  33.            terms, release dates, general availability or other 
  34.            characteristics of the commercial release.

  36.            5.  Title, ownership rights, and intellectual property 
  37.            rights in and to the Software shall remain in Sony and/or
  38.            its suppliers. You agree to abide by the 
  39.            copyright law and all other applicable laws of the 
  40.            Japan including, but not limited to, the foreign exchange
  41.            and foreign trade cotrol law.  You acknowledge that the 
  42.            Software in source code form remains a confidential trade
  43.             secret of Sony and/or its suppliers and therefore you agree 
  44.            not to modify the Software or attempt to decipher, 
  45.            decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the 
  46.            Software, except to the extent applicable laws 
  47.            specifically prohibit such restriction.

  49.            6.  Sony may terminate this License at any time by 
  50.            delivering notice to you and you may terminate this 
  51.            License at any time by destroying or erasing your copy 
  52.            of the Software.  Upon termination of this License, or 
  53.            in any event within thirty (30) days following 
  54.            Sony's release of a commercial version of the 
  55.            Software, you agree to destroy or erase the Software.  
  56.            In the event of termination, the following sections of 
  57.            this License will survive: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.  
  58.            This License is personal to you and you agree not to 
  59.            assign your rights herein.  This License shall be 
  60.            governed by and construed in accordance with the laws 
  61.            of Japan, as to matters affecting 
  62.            copyrights, trademarks and patents.
  63.            This License sets forth the entire agreement 
  64.            between you and Sony.

  66.            7.  You may not download or otherwise export or 
  67.            reexport the Software or any underlying information or 
  68.            technology except in full compliance with applicable
  69.            laws and regulations of Japan.

  71.            8.  SONY OR ITS SUPPLIERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR 
  72.            (a) INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL OR INDIRECT 
  73.            DAMAGES OF ANY SORT, WHETHER ARISING IN TORT, CONTRACT 
  74.            OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF SONY HAS BEEN INFORMED OF THE 
  75.            POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, OR (b) FOR ANY CLAIM BY 
  76.            ANY OTHER PARTY.  THIS LIMITATION OF LIABILITY SHALL 
  77.            NOT APPLY TO LIABILITY FOR DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO 
  78.            THE EXTENT APPLICABLE LAW PROHIBITS SUCH LIMITATION.
