Technical Notes CD Version 3.0
---------------------------
This file contains technical notes and setup instructions for
American Sign Language CD.
It consists of the following sections:

1) SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

* Pentium 133 or better
* Minimum 16MB RAM
* Windows 95
* CD-ROM drive
* 16 bit color display
* MPC compatible audio board
* Mouse
* Apple QuickTime Software (included on disc)
* Modem or TCP/IP access (required for online link only)
2) GENERAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
-------------------------------------
The following are instructions for installing American Sign Language
on your hard drive. This procedure installs a few small files
onto your hard drive that allow you to run our program. Please note
that after installing, the CD disc must be in the CD-ROM drive
whenever you wish to run American Sign Language.
1. Insert the American Sign Language CD disc into the CD-ROM Drive
and the program will install automatically.
2. After the installation is completed, go to the START menu and
select PROGRAMS -->American Sign Language-->American Sign Language
If your CD-ROM drive does not support Autoplay:
1. Insert the American Sign Language CD disc into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Go to the START menu on the taskbar and click RUN.
3. Type D:\SETUP.EXE (where D is the letter name of your CD-ROM
drive) and click OK.
4. After the installation is completed, go to the START menu and
select PROGRAMS -->American Sign Language-->American Sign Language

If you reinstall American Sign Language3 over an existing version
everything in that directory will be overwritten. For instance, if
at the time of install you directed American Sign Language to install in
your "personal" directory where you keep all your sign language related programs
and then you need to reinstall American Sign Language for some reason you
will be prompted to overwrite the directory "personal". If American Sign Language
is the only thing in the "personal" directory it is safe to
overwrite it. If you have other programs in the same directory, DO
NOT OVERWRITE the directory, call our technical support and we will
be happy to assist you.
3) ONLINE ACCESS
----------------
If you have an internet service provider and you would like to visit
the Multimedia 2000 website, go to the START menu and select
PROGRAMS -->American Sign Language-->M-2K Online
to go to http://www.m-2k.com
4) NOTES ON UNINSTALLATION
---------------------------
If you wish to completely remove American Sign Language from your hard
drive, go to the Start Menu and select Settings --> Control
Panel --> Add/Remove Programs. In the Dialog Box that appears,
select American Sign Language CD from the list of installed
programs and click on the Add/Remove button. This will completely
uninstall the program from your hard drive. It is NOT recommended
that you merely drag the folder containing American Sign Language
to the Recycle Bin. This is true for most programs under Windows.
5) PERFORMANCE TIPS
--------------------
The following tips will help improve the performance of any
multimedia CD-ROM title that makes extensive use of audio and
video.
1) Turn off Wallpaper and Screen Savers
Click the right mouse button on the desktop. Click on
Properties at the bottom of the menu. Choose <None> for the
Pattern and Wallpaper settings. Click on the Screen Saver tab
and choose <None> for the Screen Saver setting.
2) Make sure no other programs are running in the background while
running the CD-ROM title.
6) TROUBLE SHOOTING

Product Feature Help:
American Sign Language has online help in each section. You
can access it at any time by selecting Help.
PROBLEM:
Audio plays, but videos are not visible
SOLUTION:
Be sure you have installed Apple's QuickTime software found
on the CD-ROM in the "QuickTime for Windows" directory.
PROBLEM:
You are receiving the message: For American Sign Language to
run correctly, the color palette must be set to High Color
(16-bit).
SOLUTION:
Using the right mouse button, click on the desktop. Select
Properties from the pop-up menu. Select the Settings tab.
Under the Color Palette pulldown menu select High Color (16 bit)
and Restart your computer.
PROBLEM:
Errors displaying files, reading the CD-ROM drive, and
printing (among assorted others).
SOLUTION:
Do not run any other applications simultaneously with American
Sign Language. This includes any TSR's or Startup applications.
(e.g. Microsoft Office or Bookshelf, Packard Bell Navigator).
There should be no other programs listed in the task bar at the
bottom of the screen.

Increase the size of Virtual Memory Swap File. Please refer to
your Windows manual for instructions on this procedure. (We
recommend a swap file of at least 7 megabytes.)
