This stack was created from the hard work of myself with the assisted hard work of Shirley (some Greek name).
This stack was inspired by Chris Wheat. From there Shirley and I took it to where it's at today.
I did all of the scripting. My intention was to have a stack with a minimum amount of stack cards.
I wrote a script that showed only the fields that needed to be shown. I did this with the clicktext command.
By dragging the mouse arrow over the buttons (selections) what appears before your eyes are added selections (fields), which can be clicked on. After clicking on that selection the stack brings up your selection, a field with the listing of businesses.
This stack has scripting at all levels of the hierarchy. The opening effects (that shows the stack's title and pictures) are done through the stack script. The "hide menu" command is also at this level of the hierarchy.
The stack opening stops at the credits card. An Animation appears over the credit's card. (the balloon).
The right arrow button is shown. A sound effect is heard of a camera shot. The next cd is The East bay card. Clicking the arrow button again brings you to the next card, the Redwood City and Palo Alto card ( where the pictures of the Stanford Tower and the San Mateo Capitol building is shown. )
the next cd is the animation card. This is done with Add Motion. The Painted Map is on there with the color xcmd.
I made this map with Add motions Prop making features.
The Animation script is in the button script of the right bottom corner of this card.
The user then continues with the right arrow button on the bottom right corner of the card.
The user is now at the map card. This is the main menu card of the stack. The card gives the user the ability to go to the six cities we chose to have listed.
The scripting of this card has the card script (the script for the colorized graphic effect). The other scripts on the card are in the several buttons on the card.
Once the user makes his/her selection the stack shows the user the appropriate card for that city.
On this card the several selection flash quickly so to show the user that these are the selection. Most of the scripting for these type of cards are in the buttons and in the pop up fields that appear after the user clicks on any of the various buttons. The Various buttons use the "On mouseEnter and On mouseLeave" commands. (this is that field popping effect).
The Effects
The effects were done with the colorized Xcmd "ColorizeHC". The effects are all the colors and gray PICS (map). the command is found on the OpenCard stack of every card that has color.
The xcmd is a resource in the stack. To get a resource, you copy the xcmd from another stack with Power Tools.
Another effect is the animations. This is done with the xcmd from Add Motion. The xcmd shows all the various Pic Resources that are hidden in the stack.
The sounds
The sounds are used both in Add Motion animation and by calling the sounds with hypertalk.
The first sound (the music over the sail boat graphic) was done with the "play" command in hypertalk.
The second sound is the sound of the camera click. the script for this sound is in the button that has the arrows, "play camera".
The next sound in the stack (from the beginning) was the sound of the airplane engine. This sound is in the animation. the sound is basically a "puttt". When the "puttt" is repeated over and over the sound is heard as a engine sound.
Next, the music is repeated again from the animation.
The sound that follows is the sound from the Help Card. This sound is a "click" this sound is done by a Cue command that is from the Help animation. Both clicks are actually play through hypertalk "play" that is in the card script.
The Bit Map pictures
The black and white bit map pictures were copied directly with the lightning scan program. the pictures were scanned then displayed in a window , converted to grey scale with double size. Then they were changed to a 4 bit image then selected with mouse then copied then pasted on a hypercard card.
Well that's it for now.
FOR TOOLBOOK USERS.
A LOT OF THE STUFF MENTIONED ABOUT COULD NOT BE EXPORTED TO THE WINDOWS ENVIRONMENT SUCH AS ADMOTION ANIMATIONS. WINDOWS IS AT A VERY DISADVANTAGE COMPARED TO THE MAC PLATFORM. I SUGGEST YOU SWITCH TO A MAC IF YOU ENJOY HYPERCARD LIKE PROGRAMS.
