  3. This file will explain the procedure for 
  4. installing ITS software and some of the 
  5. system messages you will encounter. 
  6.  
  7. Before installing ITS make sure you are 
  8. running Windows 95 and have an installed 
  9. browser with the ability to run JAVA and 
  10. JavaScript. Make sure you have home pages 
  11. supplied by your ISP. ITS now gives you 
  12. an opportunity to make good use of this 
  13. space.

  15. On first time installation the software 
  16. may install updated files compatible 
  17. with Visual Basic Version 5 and will 
  18. ask you to reboot your computer and 
  19. continue to run setup again. This is 
  20. normal for an update files procedure.  
  21. If you have already done this you are 
  22. given a chance to read this file 
  23. again once the program starts.

  25. There are a few things you should 
  26. have ready before running the 
  27. program for the first time. 
  28.  
  29. Before entering the standard details 
  30. section of the program be ready with 
  31. the following:

  33. 1 Your company or personal name this 
  34. will be shown to your customers 
  35. when viewing your site.
  36.  
  37. 2 Your email address this is used 
  38. to email back to you the responses 
  39. and orders from your customers.
  40.  
  41. 3 A company or personal logo to be 
  42. used as the company name this has 
  43. to be 75 pixels height x 125 pixels 
  44. wide if your image is bigger than 
  45. this it will be shrunk if it is 
  46. smaller it will be expanded. If you 
  47. need an exactly proportioned 
  48. representation of your logo be 
  49. aware that it will be fitted into 
  50. the 75 x 125 pixel size.

  53. 4 Your ISP must be able to provide 
  54. you with a cgi script which will 
  55. allow you to receive the contents 
  56. of a html form see tutorial for 
  57. more details and an example. This 
  58. part is required so that when your 
  59. customers place orders the order is 
  60. then received by you in the form of 
  61. an email.

  65. Once you have entered these details 
  66. in the standard details you are now 
  67. ready to use the program. Before you 
  68. use the program you need to have an 
  69. understanding of the program model 
  70. and how ITS works. We strongly advise 
  71. that you read the tutorial or at 
  72. least look at some existing sites to 
  73. see how the information is arranged 
  74. and how the customer uses it. For

  78. If you build a confusing site then 
  79. your customers will surf on out. 
  80. If you really don't want to read 
  81. the tutorial then the model can be 
  82. explained thus:

  86. promotion of your business on 
  87. the Internet via interactive client 
  88. scripted web pages with full 
  89. graphical and text 
  90. descriptions viewed on your 
  91. customers PC. ITS does not require  
  92. knowledge of JAVA or Java
  93. Script as you will never
  94. leave the comfort of the 
  95. ITS program but have the 
  96. power of these technologies 
  97. on your site. ITS will 
  98. enable you to organise these 
  99. goods and services and other 
  100. information in a logical manner 
  101. which will be easy for your 
  102. customers to peruse without 
  103. any new learned skills. 
  104. Categories are first created 
  105. to hold a number of items 
  106. descriptions of these categories 
  107. cover the items contained within 
  108. the category. Items and their 
  109. individual description by picture, 
  110. sound, video, text and price 
  111. are contained within the category.

  113. ITS will give you 
  114. the ability to make foreign 
  115. language sites with different 
  116. tax and freight rates and 
  117. will allow you to make global 
  118. changes to your products pricing 
  119. from your desktop PC.  You need 
  120. home pages supplied by your 
  121. ISP with enough space to host 
  122. your site. ITS has optional 
  123. dual currency display with prices 
  124. adjusted easily by change of a 
  125. conversion factor. ITS can 
  126. incorporate previous artwork done 
  127. for the Internet by using 
  128. existing html pages. ITS uses a 
  129. shopping trolley model. ITS is 
  130. cost effective for your business.
