  41. A.   Who Needs This WinComm PRO 1.1 Patch
  42. ===============================================================

  44. This update corrects issues that were found in copies of 
  45. WinComm PRO 1.1 (dated earlier than March 24, 1995), and 
  46. Internet Messenger 1.1.
  47.  
  48. Secondly, this update will add network support (NASI/NCSI) and Winsock
  49. support.  For more information on using these new features, please
  50. consult the file UPDATE.WRI, which can be found in your WinComm PRO
  51. directory AFTER executing the patch.
  52.  
  53.  
  54. The fixes include:
  55.  
  56. WinComm PRO
  57. ===========
  58. 1)  Color properties defined in the New Session Defaults are now
  59.     retained (and saved) in newly created sessions.
  60.  
  61. 2)  Problems resizing terminal rows and columns have been
  62.     corrected.
  63.  
  64. 3)  The modem database has been updated.  WinComm now provides support
  65.     for approximately 550 different modem types.
  66.  
  67. 4)  The Delrina WinComm PRO HOST Monitor has been modified to include
  68.     a minimize toggle.
  69.  
  70. IMPORTANT:
  71.     Since the WinComm modems list is being updated and modified, you
  72.     may need to reselect your modem type from the list.  If you find
  73.     that your modem is no longer appearing within the "Modem:" field
  74.     in the Settings dialog for your existing sessions, perform
  75.     the following steps:
  76.  
  77.         1)  Close all sessions and return to the main phonebook view.
  78.         2)  From the Setup menu, select Global Defaults or click the
  79.         Defaults button.
  80.         3)  Select ALL when asked which entries you want to modify
  81.         within your phonebook.
  82.         4)  Select Connection (port and modem) and click OK.
  83.         5)  Reselect your modem from the "Modem" drop down field.
  84.         6)  Click OK.
  85.         7)  All sessions should be updated accordingly.

  87.         NOTE:  You will only need to perform this operation ONCE.

  89.   Also note that the WinComm PRO HOST now requires the file
  90.   VBRUN300.DLL (in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory) in order to
  91.   properly execute the Delrina WinComm HOST session.  If you do
  92.   not have this file, you may download it from either our BBS or
  93.   CompuServe under the filename VBRUN300.EXE (a self-extracting .zip).

  98. 1)  Support for additional service providers, including:

  108. 3)  Corrects the program abort error encountered with e-mail
  109.     containing corrupt headers and/or MIME attachments.

  112. B. Upgrading WinComm PRO v1.1 to 1.1 (05/18/95) via Windows 3.x

  115. 1. Store the upgrade files on a diskette or on your hard disk.
  116.  
  117. Note:  The patch files *must* be run from a NON write-protected
  118.        diskette.  If you are running the patch from a network,
  119.        be sure that you have write access to the directory in
  120.        which the patch files are stored.  Contact your network
  121.        administrator if you are unsure or copy the files to your
  122.        local hard drive or a writeable diskette.

  124. 2. Start Windows.
  125.  
  126. 3. If you have the files on a diskette, insert the diskette into 
  127. the "A" drive. (If the external drive you are using is a letter other
  128. than "A", substitute that letter for "A".)
  129.  
  130. 4. From the Program Manager File menu, select Run.
  131.  
  132. 5. In the Run dialog, type the following command line reflecting the 
  133. location where you stored the upgrade files, for example ...
  134.  
  135.     A:\UPGRADE
  136.  
  137. ... then click OK (or press Enter)
  138.  
  139. 6. Click the "Upgrade to 1.1" button in the dialog that appears to
  140. continue.  Your software is automatically updated to version 1.1
  141. over the next few minutes.

  147. ** Be sure to EXIT completely from Windows before running the
  148.    patch files.  DO NOT run the patch under a DOS session. **
  149.  
  150. 1.  Store the upgrade files on a diskette or on your hard disk,
  151.     preferably in a separate directory.

  170.     WinComm will be upgraded and ready to use.

  172. Once each of the four patches has been successfully added,
  173. you may reload Windows and access WinComm PRO.  To ensure that WinComm
  174. was successfully patched, select About from the Help menu.
  175. The date listed in the Help/About dialog should read May 18, 1995.
  176. The Help/About under Internet Messenger should read February 20, 1995.
