  4. Folders adds depth to the Program Manager groups for MS Windows.  It 
  5. gives the ability equivalent to having groups within groups.  Each 
  6. folder can hold any type of file you decide to place in it, including
  7. more folders.

  9. Features include:
  10.   - no limit on nesting folders within folders
  11.   - move or copy items from folder to folder using drag/drop
  12.   - run command with browse button which also stores last twelve commands
  13.   - associate command that allows multiple programs to be associated
  14.     with a single extension
  15.   - save location, size of folder as well as item positions
  16.   - launch your applications directly from a folder
  17.   - customizable command lines for any item
  18.   - use virtually any icon on the system to represent items
  19.   - tie two or more folders to the same subfolder
  20.   - display items as icons or just names
  21.   - password protection
  22.   - multi-select capability when adding, deleting, moving or
  23.     copying items

  27. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have a previous version of Folders already
  28. installed, to install the latest version you must run FINSTALL and 
  29. choose Re-Install.  Be sure and note what version you currently are 
  30. using as FINSTALL will prompt for that information.  Also, copy files
  31. FOLDERS.EXE and FOLDERS.HLP to your windows directory.  Do not copy 
  32. over your FOLDERS.INI file.

  34. Note that versions 3.0 and earlier cannot be re-installed over.  You 
  35. must delete all folder files and perform an install procedure.

  39. Installation (no previous versions installed):
  40.   1. Copy files FOLDERS.EXE, FOLDERS.HLP and FOLDERS.INI to your
  41.      windows directory.
  42.   2. Run FINSTALL and follow its directions.  Be sure to select Install,
  43.      not Re-Install.  Make sure the directory you run FINSTALL from also
  44.      contains the other files included on the disk or in the zip file.
  45.   3. That's it.  Your are now ready to start getting organized.

  47.   If this installation process should fail, follow the directions for
  48.   manual install found in FOLDERS.WRI.

  51. Getting Started:
  52.   1. Once the program is installed, open your first folder.
  53.   2. You can rename it, if you want, using the Name command under the File
  54.      menu.  Be sure and rename it in the program group, too.
  55.   3. From this folder, or any folder you create, you can make new folders.
  56.      Simply choose New from the File menu.  You can create subfolders or
  57.      new group level folders such as this first folder.
  58.   4. Create whatever folders you want and add items to them using the
  59.      Add Item command from the Edit menu.  For detail information on each 
  60.      command, use either the help menu or read FOLDERS.WRI.

  125. - Use of icons changed considerably.  New command Add Icon allows any
  126.   icon file to be added to the system for use in displaying items.  Also,
  127.   executable files with icons in them and items associated with these
  128.   executable will now appear using the executable's icon.

  130. - Can now copy, move or delete multiple items at a time.  Pressing the 
  131.   ctrl key while selecting items with the mouse, allows multiple items
  132.   to be selected at a time.

  134. - Folder windows may now be resized and the new size used from then on
  135.   when opening that particular folder.  Simply set the folder to the
  136.   desired size and then save the folder.  The next time it is open, it
  137.   will appear using the saved size.

  139. Changes from version 2.0 (version 2.1)

  141. - Only one copy of a particular folder may now be open at a time.
  142.   Double-clicking on the folder icon or using the Open command on a
  143.   folder already open will make the folder selected the active window,
  144.   even if iconized.  It will not open a second copy of the folder.

  146. - Group level folders are now created so their icon may be changed by
  147.   simply going to the Change Icon menu of the Properties command and
  148.   selecting View Next.  Previously, it was necessary to replace the
  149.   file name in the Change Icon dialog with FOLDERS.EXE.

  151. - Subfolders will now always appear starting in the lower-left hand
  152.   corner of the folder.
