  15. THOR  2.2  is  an advanced multi-format offline reader, supporting the
  16. QWK,  Fido,  UUCP,  SOUP,  Bluewave, Omen, ABBS, MBBS and Hippo (BBBS)
  17. message  formats.  It will also handle TCP-connections with NNTP, SMTP
  18. and POP3.

  20. This is the Internet archive and requires thor22_main.lha to function.

  26. We have changed the method used for news collection in the TCP modules
  27. starting with this release. This is mainly for 2 reasons:
  28.  
  29. - The old method using "NEWNEWS" put a heavy load on the newsserver.
  30. - If news collection was aborted for some reason, you would get all
  31.   the news already collected in the next session.
  32.  
  33. When  using  these  new  modules  for  the  first  time, you might get
  34. duplicated  articles.   This  is  only the first time you collect news
  35. with ConnectTHOR/GetTCP.  If you do not want this, do the following:
  36.  
  37. - Get news with the old modules so that you are up-to-date.
  38. - Install these new modules.
  39. - Select Config TCP from ConnectTHOR and set "max msgs" to 5 (or so).
  40. - Collect news again, this time using the new method.
  41. - Set back the "max msgs" to "Don't use" or whatever you want it to
  42.   be.

  46. To  install  this archive on a system already installed with THOR 2.2,
  47. do the following:

  49. Copy #? `getenv THOR/THORPATH` all
  50. Execute s/cfgtcp
  51. Execute s/cfgtcp_online
  52. Execute s/cfguqwk_soup
  53. Execute s/cfgsoup
  54. Execute s/cfguucp
