Sanity DiskCoder/DiskCopy
written by Chaos of Sanity
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
With this program you can code and copy your disks. The main advantages
are:
- it's 7 seconds faster than XCopy Prof.
backup backup+verify
SanityCopy 67s 99s
CoderCopy 69s 100s
TetraCopy 68s 105s
XCopy Prof. 69s 106s
(all times taken several times with the same clock (no build in clock!))
- it supports max. 10 ramdisks (if you have enough memory)
- you can use coded and uncoded disks together under DOS (if you got the
password), unlike CoderBoard.
- the DiskCoder is much harder to crack than CoderBoard
- realy BIG gadgets, I hate these little buttons you find in most copys
- colors adjusted for colorblind people (Yeeaah! Who thought of that ?)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Normal Copy Operation:
You can use the program like any normal copy. The ramdisks work as if
they would be normal diskdrives. You can select them as source or
destination, they will never be cleared, only overwritten.
When you click INFO you will get some information about the disk (ramdisk
or real-disk). This is very usefull if you work with several ramdisks and
you want to know what's on them.
The copy is started with the START-gadget. The COPY-Gadget toggles normal
operation/coding disks (see below).
You can check disks by clicking CHECK and then the disk, or by starting
the copy with no destination selected.
The Tracks are selected by clicking directly into the trackdisplay. ALL
resets it, DAMAGED selects only the damaged tracks. BOTH/SIDE toggles
whether you change both sides or only one.
The right mouse-button fixes the mousepointer. Pressing it again releases
it. Pressing it during copying aborts the copy.
If you click FORMAT all destination drives will get formated. The verify
will be performed if selected.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coding Disks:
The most important part of this program is the diskcoder. First you must
enter your password by clicking PASSWORD. Then you must enable the coder
by toggling the CODE/COPY gadget. Now in every copy-process the data will
be EORed with a pattern generated from your password. That means a normal
disk will be coded and a coded disk will be decoded. I.e., if you
code-copy an uncoded disk to ram, the ram-contents is coded. If you copy
the coded ramdisk to a real disk, the destinaton will be decoded. You can
check allways with INFO, whether a disk is coded or not.
If you want to use the coded disk under DOS, you must install the decoder-
bootblock on any disk and execute it. To install it, use the BOOTBLOCK-
gadget. If you execute it, it will prompt you for your password IF YOU
PRESS THE RIGHT MOUSEBUTTON !!! If you don't, it will behave like any
ordinary bootblock. After pressing return, the decoder-software gets
installed and a reset is caused. The software is resident, even on 1MB
chipmem Amigas. Now AmigaDos and any program which uses the
Trackdisk-Device can use coded and normal disks at the same time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Single-Disk Usage:
This program is designed for double-disk operation, but if you have only
one drive, you may use the ram disk. To simplify the operation, you may
click your disk-drive as source and destination. After starting the
copy-process, you are asked to insert the source disk, then the disk will
be copied to ram, if you enable coding, the data will be coded now. When
this is finished, you will be asked to insert the destination disk. While
writing from ram to disk, the coding gadget will never be enabled,
preventing the program from decoding the data he has just coded (if you
enabled coding before pressing start). If you have two drives, you may
click df0 as source and both df0 and df1 as destination. You will get
three copys, one in the first pass and two in the second. Remember that
all copy-processes which have source AND destination enabled use the first
ram-disk. It's old contents is lost, after the copy the copied data is
available (as always) if you need some more copies.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Limitations:
There are some things about this programm which must be said:
- of course it won't work on TurboAmigas (DBF...)
- if you have neither two drives nor at least 1 MB you can't use it
- many nasty 'are you shure' and 'ok?' requesters to get on your nerves, I
like it this way...

Good luck using the Sanity DiskCoder/Copy and fuck the police.

Hope you understand all in this little informtion file and get no problems
by using your production, `cos it`s well tested. But if you have any
