BOOTSCREEN
~~~~~~~~~~
Startup screen program for Amigas with Workbench release 37 (2.04) or higher.
Copyright ©1994 by Joseph Luk. All rights reserved.
----------------------------------------------------------- README FIRST FILE
You will notice that there's no runnable program here. To try out BootScreen,
you must install it using the Install script. Don't be afraid to do this,
because I have thoughtfully provided an UnInstall ("Remove") script that
will undo the Install for you in one quick pass.
You may install the program right now -- it doesn't take much space, and
the procedure is quick and easy. All you need to remember is to read the
help texts. Once that's done, just go into your Prefs drawer and run the
new BootScreen editor you'll have there. Load up a picture, save, and reboot.
That's it! You will, of course, want to read the documentation.
TROUBLESHOOTING
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you have a problem running the Install scripts, chances are you don't
have the Installer program on your hard disk. This can be acquired from
any one of the following sources:
* Original Install 2.1 or Install 3.0 disk from Commodore -- you'll find
it on the root directory.
* Commodore Installer distribution (GEnie file #21301).
All you need to do is copy the program (it's called 'Installer') to your
C: directory and leave it there. More and more programs use the Installer
nowadays, so it's good to have it on your hard disk.
It is known that the version of Installer provided with Octree's Caligari24
software fails to compile the script. You are best off using the Commodore
installer from your original Workbench disk set.
----
BootScreen V2.2 is ShareWare. It's not GimmeMoneyWare. I've spent a good
deal of time on this project, and hope that at least some people will show
their appreciation for my work with a very small donation. This isn't to
make money, this is to see if the Amiga community still supports its
starving students. There are no annoying nag screens or disabled features
in this demo version; I felt that the first step with you trusting me
with your money would be for me to trust you with my program.
Registration instructions can be found at the end of both the BootScreen.doc
and BootScreen.readme files. Thanks!
