  3. The World Wide Catalog is your seamless directory of Internet resources.
  4. If your computer is already connected to the Internet, these pages will
  5. point you on your way - just click and you'll be there.

  7. Of course, if you don't have an Internet connection, you'll get errors
  8. if you try to follow links to external resources.  But there are still
  9. plenty of interesting pages to visit among the thousands of resources
  10. included on the CD.   Enjoy!

  25. Each page within the World Wide Catalog is identified with its source URL
  26. and date of the copy.  If you are connected to the internet, click on the
  27. URL to go to the 'real' up-to-date version of the page.

  32. our collection processes.  You may find some icons not loaded properly -

  38. internet, these are processed by programs specific to the server, not

  72. If you already have a web browser:

  74. If you already have a World Wide Web html browser installed, just use
  75. the File Open command to open wwc_home.htm from the CD-ROM drive.

  78. If you do not have a web browser:
  79. ---------------------------------
  80. The World Wide Catalog includes both the Cello and I-COMM browsers.
  81.  
  82. If you are not connected to the internet, or only have an internet
  83. shell account, we recommend using I-COMM shareware (registration is
  84. required for continued use).  You may also try Cello.
  85.  
  86. To install I-COMM:
  87. ------------------
  88. From MS-Windows, use the File Manager or the File - Run menu command
  89. to run \util\i-comm\setup.exe from the CD-ROM drive.
  90.  
  91. Once installed, use the File Manager to run bin\i-comm.exe from the
  92. directory you chose for installation (C:\I-COMM by default).
  93.  
  94. From there, you will be in the I-Comm browser, and may open the
  95. World Wide Catalog by choosing the appropriate drive letter of your CD-ROM,
  96. or using the menu choice 'File' and 'Open Local' to open \wwc_home.htm
  97. from the CD-ROM.
  98.  
  99. If you are not connected to the internet, you will occassionally notice
  100. I-COMM attempting to download files and images.  These will not be available
  101. and you should press the STOP button.  You can prevent unnecessary image
  102. downloads by de-selecting the menu item 'Options' - 'Load In-Line Images'.
  103.  
  104. To run Cello:
  105. -------------
  106. Cello requires a WINSOCK.DLL file in your path.  If you do not have one,
  107. a NULL winsock is supplied on the CD-ROM.  You may experience errors
  108. on certain files as it attempts to load images from the sockets.
  109.  
  110. If you are running on a MS Windows PC and already have WINSOCK.DLL
  111. installed, use the File Run menu choice to run util\cello\cello.exe
  112. from the CD-ROM drive.
  113.  
  114. If you want to run Cello and don't have a working browser or WINSOCK.DLL
  115. installed, you will need to do the following:
  116.  
  117. 1) install WINSOCK.DLL in your path (NOTE: this is a NULL winsock, it does
  118.    not provide true winsock capabilities, but it does allow local browsing)
  119.  - add X:\util\cello to your PATH in your c:\autoexec.bat file
  120.    (where X is your CD-ROM drive letter)
  121.  - reboot your computer so that the new PATH takes effect
  122.  
  123. 2) run CELLO
  124.  - start Windows
  125.  - From the Program Manager, choose File Run from the menu
  126.  - type X:\util\cello\cello and click OK
