  1. The registration process is very simple. Follow the on-line instructions.  I-Link's software will run on
  2. most machines.  If you have problems using the registration software, check you system for the
  3. following requirements:
  4.      CPU: 386 or better
  5.      Software: Windows 3.1 or higher
  6.      Modem: 14400 baud or faster
  7.      Disk space: 3 megabytes
  8.      Memory: 6 megabytes
  9.      Serial Chip: 16550 UART (you can check your chip type using the MSD DOS utility)

  12. If you have DIFFICULTY, the following HINTS may help:
  13. 1)   MODEMS: Make sure your modem is plugged in and powered on. Select your modem or a
  14. compatible/default modem from the pull-down menu.  For example, select Default 14400 baud
  15. modem  if you have an unlisted 14400 baud modem.

  17. 2)   USER IDs: If your choice of user ID is in use, a window will appear and ask you to make a
  18. different choice.  Please enter new choices in the choice 1 through choice 3 boxes.  Then select register
  19. again.  HINT: You will have better luck selecting a nickname than your actual name.  Some people
  20. prefer the first letter of their first-name followed by their last.  For example, John Smith would have an
  21. e-mail address of  jsmith .  If John was an avid fisher, his ID might be gonefishing.  To ensure that
  22. various systems understand your e-mail addresses, do not use punctuation in your ID.  After you
  23. register, you will receive a message telling you which User ID was available.  PLEASE RECORD
  24. YOUR USER ID when it is returned to you.  THIS IS YOUR INTERNET E-MAIL ADDRESS.

  26. 3)   DIALING PREFIX/SUFFIX: These fields contain what the modem should dial before (prefix)
  27. or suffix (after) dialing the local number.  For example, office phone systems might require a '9.' If you
  28. have call-waiting, consider using '*70' to cancel call-waiting which can interrupt your connection.

  30. 4)   MOSAIC: Mosaic is a graphical way to browse the Internet.  We highly suggest that you
  31. download this program.  It is an essential tool, allowing you to gain access to the resources on the web.
  32. This package is free of charge with your first month's subscription to I-Link.  To use Mosaic, you need
  33. to download the software from our server (see I LINK Shop screen).  Helpful hints for using Mosaic: 
  34. a)  To run Mosaic, double-click the Spyglass Mosaic icon in the I LINK Program Group.
  35. b)  Click on blue items to load new sites.  After visiting a site, any links to that site will change to red,
  36. telling you where you have been.  To change these colors, go to the 'Edit' menu and select 'Preferences,'
  37. then either 'Link Color' or 'Visited Links.'
  38. c)  Click on the Left and right arrows in the upper left hand part of the screen to move forward and
  39. backward between sites you have visited.
  40. d)  When you find an area you like, you may add it to your Hot List by selecting the Add Current to
  41. Hotlist option from the  Navigate  menu.  This will allow you to quickly return to this area in later
  42. sessions.
  43. e)  The Help menus in Mosaic are very easy to understand.  To get a better understanding of concepts,
  44. terminology, and ideas about ways to use Mosaic, select the 'Mosaic Help Page' under the 'Help' menu.

  46. 5)   COPYING THE I LINK SOFTWARE: You can easily (and at no additional cost) make a
  47. copy of your I Link software for a second machine (laptop, work machine, etc.)  You can also make a
  48. disk for a friend and receive valuable savings on your I Link subscription.  See the I Link Shop screen
  49. (under the I LINK icon)..

  69. membership.  If you wish to cancel your membership, go to the I Link Shop screen (under the I-Ship
  70. icon) and select the Cancel option.  You must cancel within 3 days of your initial connection to avoid
  71. being charged the monthly fee.
