Installing and Using the WordPerfect 8 for Linux Fonts
Every font used in WordPerfect first has to be installed in WordPerfect for Linux. The initial WordPerfect installation installs only basic text fonts plus the special WordPerfect characters and symbols (see "Using Special Characters and Symbols," later in this chapter). To access all the WordPerfect fonts that come with your CD, follow the installation procedures described here. Follow the same procedures to install Type 1 fonts you may have elsewhere on your hard drive or on another CD.
To install fonts for use in WordPerfect:
1. Start WordPerfect with the Administrator startup option (-admin), as described in Chapter 1.
2. Click Format @@> Font, then click the Install Fonts button.
3. Select the font type to install:
* Type 1 to install Type 1 PostScript fonts, such as those on your WordPerfect for Linux Bible CD.
* HP LaserJet to install bitmapped HP LaserJet fonts. These fonts come in many styles, but always have a fixed size.
4. Change the Font Directory and the .pfb Directory to the directory with the fonts you're installing (on the WordPerfect for Linux Bible CD, this normally will be /mnt/cdrom/fonts.)
5. Select the fonts you want to install from the Available Fonts list, then click Install. (If you don't see any fonts, make sure you specified the correct fonts directory.)
6. When prompted, click Yes to copy the fonts to the fonts directory, so WordPerfect will be able to find them.
7. When prompted, exit the font installer and restart WordPerfect.
After your fonts are installed, switch to WordPerfect and open the document "Linux Fonts.wpd" in the fontslist folder on the CD to display and print examples of the 184 fonts.
