  1. How MicroCook has evolved..............
  2.  
  3.     Many of these additions and improvements were suggestions
  4. from MicroCook users. So it help to "complain", plus it might
  5. result in a FREE registration if the bug has not been reported
  6. before. Together WE can make MicroCook better!
  7.  
  8. Version 1.98 - Upgrade release July 1996
  9. - Added Code Field in editor. This ONE character can be a very
  10.   powerful item when it comes to sort or group of recipes. It's
  11.   transferred to the Index, so it can be sorted and searched on.
  12.   A Search & Replace menu item for the Code is also added along
  13.   with a Clear or Set for the whole database. Individual Code
  14.   characters can be assigned for each imported file. Thanks to
  15.   Earl in the Netherlands for the idea.
  16. - Added a Swap function to the split-window when comparing
  17.   duplicates during import. You can now swap the imported recipe
  18.   with the one in the database importing to. This will overwrite
  19.   the original recipe. Thanks to David in St. Louis for this
  20.   idea!
  21. - Added possibilities to save a duplicate recipe while comparing
  22.   in the split-window during import to a separate DUPES.MCD
  23.   database. This database can then later be edited. Duplicate
  24.   checking must be ON in Setup for this to work.
  25. - Added a new button that will do a nonstop import, but save all
  26.   duplicate recipes automatically to DUPES.MCD.

  28. Version 1.97 - Upgrade release May 1996
  29. - REMOVED 150 recipe limit in Index select!!
  30. - Added split-window for comparing duplicate recipes either
  31.   during imports or when entering from editor. Two recipes can
  32.   also be selected in the Index Select for comparing. This
  33.   function was requested by many. 
  34. - Added possibility to create a KEY file in MicroCook after
  35.   receiving serial number from NORSKi Software. No need to wait
  36.   for disk with the KEY. But the disk with the KEY, MCDBFIX and
  37.   the 2000 recipes will be sent to you anyway.
  38. - Moved more routines to Overlays so more memory left for the
  39.   recipe index array.
  40. - Added Auto-Config the first time MicroCook is loaded.
  41. - Fixed bug in duplicate checking when entering recipes from the
  42.   editor.
  43. - Fixed bug in "Create New Database."
  44. - Fixed bug in "Pack."
  45. - REDUCED REGISTRATION FEE TO $15.00
  46. - Less "Please Register."

  50.   I will also use this site to post MicroCook news, bug notices,
  51.   and maybe keep some recipes for downloading.

  53. Version 1.96 - Upgrade release February 1996
  54. - Added use of Extended (XMS) or Expanded (EMS) memory for
  55.   Overlays. This will remove any "Out of memory" errors, and also
  56.   increase the database capacity with over 100%! MicroCook can
  57.   now load in as little as 400 Kb of free conventional RAM, and
  58.   still have room for recipes. See the manual (MCOOK.MAN) for
  59.   more details. Note: Do NOT use file compression programs like
  60.   PKLITE or LZEXE on MCOOK.EXE. This is due to the Overlays.
  61. - Added menu "help" on bottom screen line.
  62. - Added timed file buffer flushing to prevent lose of data during
  63.   power outage, PC lock up, or an accidental trip over the power
  64.   cord to the PC:)
  65. - Added a full editor in an external program to fill out
  66.   registrations. Make registration even easier!
  67. - Added option to Pack the database after recipe deletion in
  68.   the Index.
  69. - Fixed bug that removed any tagged recipes when sorting during
  70.   recipe deletion in Index select.
  71. - Fixed a few (small) bugs, and tuned some routines for better
  72.   speed.   
  73. - And added 150 displayed recipes limit in Index select. This
  74.   should be enough when evaluating an un-registered version. I
  75.   know that's about impossible to get all people that use
  76.   MicroCook to register. But from e-mail and other "sources" it's
  77.   clear that a LOT of people are still using MicroCook without
  78.   registering way past the 30 days evaluation period.

  80. Version 1.92 - Maintenance release October 1995
  81. - Fixed bug in recipe printing. If no header was selected,
  82.   default header was used.
  83. - Fixed bug in Setup editor.
  84. - Removed "Disable prompt" window when using 'Delete This Recipe'
  85.   (ALT-Z). This prompt can now be enabled/disabled from Setup.
  86. - Removed 'Justification selection' window at start of MealMaster
  87.   Import. These variables can now be set in Setup.
  88. - Fixed bug that could give an error if an ALT-Z (Delete this
  89.   recipe) was used after an edit & save.
  90. - Misc. small "clean up & fixes".

  92. Version 1.91 - Upgrade/Maintenance release August 1995
  93. - Added File Manager with Copy, Move, Delete, Rename, View, Print
  94.   (From View) and Edit of any files. The ASCII editor has built
  95.   in Macros for editing ASCII recipes in other formats before
  96.   Import into MicroCook. Approx. 50Kb file capacity in ASCII
  97.   editor.  
  98. - Added Sort on recipe numbers in Index (F8). Can be handy if you
  99.   want to group all the last imported recipes together at the top
  100.   of the index (sort descending). 
  101. - Added Warning window IF MicroCook is loaded through Windows AND
  102.   the DOS mouse driver is NOT loaded. Windows mouse driver do NOT
  103.   work with MicroCook, or any other DOS programs.
  104. - Added ALT-C, Clear All, and ALT-M, Mark All recipes when
  105.   tagging (Delete, Print & Export) in Index.
  106. - Added a new way to tag recipes. If ENTER is used, the tagging
  107.   will stop at the bottom of the page. A Page Down will display a
  108.   new page with the cursor bar on top recipe. If Spacebar is
  109.   used, it's as before. Cursor will keep on going to the end of
  110.   the index.
  111. - In "Delete this recipe" (ALT-Z) fixed bug. PC crash if deleting
  112.   last recipe in the index listing with ALT-Z.
  113. - Added option in Setup to disable warning prompt when "Delete
  114.   This recipe" (ALT-Z) is used.
  115. - Moved options in Meal-Master Import re. Left or Center
  116.   justified, and removal of 'x' in Ingredients during import, 
  117.   to Setup. 
  118. - Added option to command line prompt to disable the 'fancy'
  119.   screen transitions between Index and editor. Type MCOOK HELP
  120.   from the DOS prompt for details. Suggestion from Andy B. in
  121.   Indiana.
  122. - Fixed bug in Setup that prevented a blank line to be entered as
  123.   recipe header on printout.
  124. - Fixed bug in Index Select. Error IF current search (View) was 
  125.   shorter than the previous one AND the cursor was previously
  126.   moved to the end of index.

  128. Version 1.81 - Upgrade release June 1995.
  129. - Increased Preparation Editor capacity by 16 lines, for a total
  130.   of 50 lines. This came after a request from Gus J. P., and
  131.   several other MicroCook users.
  132. - Added automatic conversion utility for recipe databases prior
  133.   to v.1.81
  134. - Fixed a bug in Load by Number that was created in v.1.68.
  135. - Added save of default MicroCook ASCII export width. 
  136. - Fixed bug in all Imports. A recipe was lost if started out with
  137.   Verify, then selected Non-Stop import.

  139. Version 1.68 - Maintenance release June 1995.
  140. - Fixed bugs in Meal-Master and MasterCook ASCII Imports. 
  141. - Added option to left or center justify ingredients lines when
  142.   importing Meal-Master ASCII recipes.
  143. - Added option to remove x from ingredients in imported Meal-
  144.   Master ASCII recipes (i.e. 1 x Clove Garlic -> 1   Clove
  145.   Garlic)
  146. - Fixed bug in Disk View.

  148. Version 1.67 - Maintenance release May 1995.
  149. - Fixed bug in Meal-Master ASCII import. If the ingredients in
  150.   the MM ASCII recipe was in 2 columns, some of the ingredients
  151.   could be mixed up. Also if a header was used in a 2 column MM
  152.   ASCII recipe, the ingredients could end up under the wrong
  153.   header.
  154. - Fixed bug that could cause the Index display to be "scrambled"
  155.   if a recipe was deleted from the Last Search Index.
  156. - Added new button when verifying recipes during import. Now the
  157.   Verify can be turned off during Import so the import will
  158.   continue non-stop.
  159.  
  160. Version 1.66 - Maintenance release May 1995.
  161. - Fixed bug in MicroCook ASCII Import. The last recipe in an
  162.   ASCII file could possible be lost during import, and cause an
  163.   "Input past end of file" error. 
  164. - Added the possibility to add a left margin when printing from
  165.   the ASCII file viewer. Most ASCII files will print flush left,
  166.   so if a hole punch for a 3-ring binder is used, letters will
  167.   also be punched out. An 6 to 8 character left margin would
  168.   prevent that.
  169. - Added option for registering with Credit Card (via phone
  170.   (800#), fax, e-mail, or regular mail)
  171. - Updated the "Register MicroCook" window (select from Print
  172.   menu), so both viewing and printing of all registrations
  173.   information and forms are available from MicroCook.
  174.  
  175. Version 1.65 - Maintenance release May 1995.
  176. - Made tagging with mouse cursor in Index Select more sensitive.
  177. - When tagging in Index Select, the cursor will now move down to
  178.   next recipe. Hold down the spacebar for "speed tagging".
  179. - Major overhaul of all pop-up windows. Now with much larger,
  180.   mouse friendly buttons.
  181. - Added printing to all functions where the ASCII file viewer are
  182.   used. 
  183. - And zapped a few, smaller bugs:)

  185. Version 1.55 - Release April 1995
  186. - Added possibility to mark recipes as Deleted after an Export.
  187.   This would be the same as if they were Moved out from the
  188.   database. This was a request from Anthony B. plus several
  189.   other users. Keep the ideas coming!
  190. - Added possibility to search on second word when searching for
  191.   Ingredients in disk database. If two search words are used,
  192.   both must be in the Ingredients to pass. i.e. chicken AND rice.
  193.   Many registered users also asked for this feature.
  194. - Added new Hot-Key, ALT-B, so the last compiled Index from a
  195.   search can be accessed again without a new search. 
  196. - Added new line at bottom of Index window that display how many
  197.   recipes was found during a View search. Thanks to Ralph C. for
  198.   the suggestion.
  199. - Added Warning in Index if more than 20% of the recipes are
  200.   marked for Deletion. Un-necessary recipes in a database only
  201.   slow MicroCook down, so a Pack should be done.
  202. - Added new Hot-Key, ALT-W, for fast printing of the recipe
  203.   currently in the editor. No questions - just print!
  204. - Moved Printer Check in File Viewer so the printer won't get
  205.   checked until F9 (Print file) in the File Viewer is pressed.
  206. - Fixed small bug in Index. The Index could possible crash if ALL
  207.   recipes in a database was marked as Deleted.
  208. - And last but no least: Added the possibility in Setup for mouse
  209.   cursor customizing! Use any color combinations and any of the
  210.   253 characters in the ASCII table as mouse cursor. The old
  211.   transparent cursor is still available. But try these numbers
  212.   in the mouse cursor setup: 14, 4, 15. Can't miss that cursor on
  213.   the screen!

  215. Version 1.50 - Release March 1995
  216. - Added MasterCook II and MasterCook Mac ASCII Import.
  217. - Added separate conversion program for Edna's Cookbook ASCII
  218.   recipes.
  219. - NEW, "cleaner" BBS friendly ASCII Export format. No more
  220.   formatting codes or other "weird" characters in output ASCII
  221.   file. V.1.5 will still import V.1.3  and V.1.2 MicroCook ASCII
  222.   format.
  223. - Created left margin in printout so there's room to punch
  224.   holes for 3-ring binder without cutting out text too. Request
  225.   from Brenda S. and Orville H. 
  226. - Moved Screen savers out as separate EXE file, and (of course)
  227.   added a several new screens. Without the screen saver activated
  228.   in Setup (0 in time, or blank file name) there will be room for
  229.   approx. 200 recipes more per database. You can also use an
  230.   other screen saver you might have. See MCDOODLE.TXT for all the
  231.   details.
  232. - Fixed bug in index and disk search so the recipe numbers will
  233.   be displayed in the Index if activated.

  235. Version 1.38 - Maintenance release November 1994.
  236. - Added printing from ASCII File viewer. 
  237. - Added option in Setup to enter your own personalized heading on
  238.   the printout of recipes (See SETUP, ALT-U). (Thanks to Donald
  239.   A. from New York for that idea).
  240. - Added search on whole word or syllable in disk search/view.
  241.   A search on the word NUT with search on whole word will not
  242.   find nutmeg or nuts, while search on syllable will find them.
  243.   (Thanks to Charlie G. in Texas for asking for that feature)
  244. - Added "hot-key" for fast change between editors. CTRL-Arrow Up
  245.   will move cursor the next editor up. CTRL-Arrow Down will move
  246.   it to editor below the current.
  247. - Fixed "bug" in Index Select mouse routine. A double click on an
  248.   index line will now react much faster when loading the recipe.
  249. - Added "beep" (If Sound ON in Setup) when using CTRL-PageUp or
  250.   CTRL-PageDown, and you are at the end of the database and start
  251.   over again.
  252. - Including over 2000 FREE recipes when registering.
  253. - Added a few new Screen Saver graphics.
  254.  
  255. History from version 1.2 to 1.38 is deleted. The history became
  256. too long because a lot happened to MicroCook the last year.
