  9.      kdir.exe - directory for KaraDos
  10.  
  11. SYNOPSIS
  12.      [path1]kdir [path2][catal]]
  13.        with catal = a path and/or a filename with or without
  14.        extension of a  catalogue  (default extension .cat)
  15.  
  16. AVAILABILITY
  17.      The kdir command is available within  the  kardp17.zip pack-
  18.      age.  This package contains the KaraDos product delivery. It
  19.      is a Shareware.  See the readme file of  the  product.   The
  20.      package kards02.zip and kards03.zip contains  karaoke  files 
  21.      collection 02 and 03.

  23. DESCRIPTION
  24.      kdir is a small front-end for kara.exe program.
  25.      It  displays a list of songs and calls kara when a  song  is
  26.      selected. Songs  may  be  sorted and commented with an ascii 
  27.      catalogue file.

  29.      Four operation modes are allowed with  four  different  win-
  30.      dows:
  31.      - video screen and midi output
  32.       (midi port or daughter board),
  33.      - video screen and synth. output (GUS with ultramid),
  34.       (SB with ameblast for FM music).
  35.      - full screen and midi output,
  36.       (midi port or daughter board),
  37.      - full screen and synth. output (GUS with ultramid)
  38.       (SB with ameblast for FM music).

  40.      The current screen selection is recalled on next kdir call.

  42.      Kdir has three display modes : the directory mode, the  cat-
  43.      alogue mode and the file mode.

  49.      In catalogue and file mode, you can go to the directory mode
  50.      with the esc key or with the last elements of the menu.

  52.      In directory mode, you can  go  to  the  catalogue  mode  by
  53.      choosing a catalogue file displayed with the green color.

  55.      In directory mode, you can go  to the files mode by choosing
  56.      the list x files selection.
  57.  
  58.      Parameter Catal is the catalogue of songs to  be  displayed.
  59.      If the catalogue is not found in the specified path2, search
  60.      is made in path1.
  61.  
  62.      Default : kdir scans the current directory  and  search  for
  63.      file  with  the .mid or .kar extension.  If no path is given
  64.      for a song in the catalogue, kdir assume that the song is in
  65.      the  directory  of  the  catalogue.  A  song  not  found  is
  66.      displayed.  If you wants to have a catalogue where the  pro-
  67.      duct  is  or in any other one, dont forget to specify a com-
  68.      plete path for each song.  For .mid files,  the  first  meta
  69.      event lyric is displayed on the menu.

  72.      F1 manual of kdir in english, F2 manual of kara in english,

  74.      F3 manual of kdir in french, F4 manual of kara in french.

  76.      d or D key allow a dos session with full memory.  Type  exit
  77.      to return.
  78.  
  79.      Esc : in catalogue or file mode, return to directory mode, 
  80.            in directory mode, exit with confirmation.

  82.      Alt x to quit without confirmation in all display modes,
  83.  
  84.      TAB or F6 to change the mode of output and display of kara,
  85.  
  86.      F5 to zoom the window in full screen or unzoom, Up and  Down
  87.      arrows to select and enter to active the selected song.

  89.      The P or p key allows to write  the  catalogue  in  extended
  90.      form  in the directory path2 in a filename with .lst at end.
  91.      This file may be edited to distribute a nice karaoke menu to
  92.      yours guests.

  94.      T or t key to tag a song, U for untag and space to play  all
  95.      tagged songs (jukebox mode).

  97.   MOUSE OPERATIONS
  98.      You may scan songs with the mouse (up and down).
  99.      Left button : select the current highlighted choice in menu,
  100.      Right button : exit.

  102.   FORMAT OF CATALOGUE FILE (ascii file)
  103.      if line begins with @,  it  is  a  sub  menu  title  and  is
  104.      displayed  in  yellow  foreground color else its a song name
  105.      with full path with or  without  extension  (.mid  and  .kar
  106.      defaults) and optional parameters for kara call.
  107.      
  108.      If a path  is  given  alone (ended with \)  it  becomes  the 
  109.      default   path  for  following  songs  without path else the 
  110.      default path is the current working directory.
  111.      
  112.      A  song  without path  must be in the default path or in the 
  113.      path of the .cat file itself.

  115.      In directory mode, a catalogue file is  displayed  in  green
  116.      with the first non blank sub menu as title.
  117.  
  118.      The kara option -do and -po are not recommanded in catalogue
  119.      because  they  are  automatically  inserted depending on the
  120.      current window selection.

  139. BUGS
  140.      If  no enough memory is found to load and execute kara,  the
  141.      activation will not work. The same if the kara.exe module is
  142.      not found in the directory where kdir.exe resides.
  143.      Each menu has a capacity of about 1000 selections. If more
  144.      selection are given, the display is restricted with only the
  145.      name of files without comments. This is due to the 640Ko limit
  146.      of the Dos
