  18.         DISK COPY PLUS is the professional version of DISK COPY FAST.
  19.         It includes all the features of DISK COPY FAST plus some
  20.         advanced features.

  23.         Power users: Imagine that you can read a standard format disk,
  24.         convert it to the highest capacity (except XDF format,) then
  25.         format, write and compare the target, all done in a single
  26.         pass! No more slow formatting by FDFORMAT or similar utilities
  27.         while you enjoy the maximum flexibility. Imagine that you can
  28.         do so (and all kinds of operations) by a single keystroke on a
  29.         hot key defined by yourself?

  40.         customized hot keys. You define up to 10 hot keys according

  45.         the AUTOEXEC feature. You define what DISK COPY PLUS should do
  46.         automatically when you run the program, just like AUTOEXEC.BAT

  65.         copying. After you have done with one format, at the press of
  66.         one key it converts the source to another format, say, from
  67.         720KB to 360KB, and continue copying in another drive.

  70.         In this example, it takes only two keystrokes (one to change
  71.         format, another to quit.) to produce as many 360KB and 720KB

  74.         target diskettes as you like. Each copy produced can have a
  75.         unique serial number and each copy can be double checked with
  76.         a BYTE-BY-BYTE comparison to make sure they are identical to
  77.         the original, except for the serial number.

  81.         more creative work, or you can hire someone who knows nothing
  82.         about computers to do the copying for you.

  85.         Another nice feature of DISK COPY PLUS is automatic serial
  86.         number assignment. Some people like to change the disk serial
  87.         number that DOS shows you when you use the DIR command. Other
  88.         people like to imbed a unique serial number in their product.
  89.         DISK COPY PLUS allow you to do either or both types of these
  90.         serial numbers. In addition, it provides other tools to help
  91.         you find and VERIFY the right location for imbedding serial
  92.         numbers and show you the imbedded serial number on any
  93.         duplicated diskette. This feature can be done automatically
  94.         using the hot keys or AUTOEXEC features.

  98.         image file for you so that you don't need to specify the
  99.         serial number each time you run the program. It also keeps
  100.         a log file for your diskette duplication. With a little

  117.         The DIAG command checks boot sector, file allocation table
  118.         (FAT) and directory structure and provides reports for diskette
  119.         usage and fragmentation.

  122.         The CONVERT command convert diskette image from one format to
  123.         another, so long as the data on original format can fit into
  124.         the new format. For example, a 1.44 MB disk can be converted to
  125.         360 KB diskette if the data on the 1.44 MB disk does not exceed
  126.         the total data space on a 360 KB diskette.

  129.         The DEFRAG command performs defragmentation on a diskette. It
  130.         does more than just sectors swapping. The entire diskette is
  131.         checked thoroughly for any possible way of compaction. The
  132.         result is a perfect with no waste of space and no fragmentation.

  135.         The DUMP command lets you move around the loaded diskette at
  136.         very high speed. You can use it to check the contents of a
  137.         diskette or verify the imbedded location(s) of a serial number.

  205.        A utility to format 360KB, 1.2MB, 720KB and 1.44MB diskettes.
  206.        Features include no keyboard operation, serial number assignment,
  207.        label assignment and bad sectors handling.
  208.  
  209.        You type the program name at DOS prompt to start and press the
  210.        ESC key to end, no keystroke in between!
  211.  
  212.        The serial number and label can be assigned incrementally with
  213.        a text file which stores the serial number and label for the
  214.        next diskette to be formatted. You can keep more than one text
  215.        file for this purpose. Before exit, FMT will update the file
  216.        automatically.

  218.        Conventionally, a cluster is marked as bad cluster if the
  219.        formatting program fails to access after three tries. FMT,
  220.        however, adopts a more strict policy to ensure that your
  221.        valuable data won't be saved on places which are bad or about to
  222.        turn bad. FMT will try three times too. The difference is that
  223.        if FMT fails to access a sector in the first try it will mark
  224.        the sector bad and tell you how many tries has failed.

  228.  
  229.        A utility to make full use of cleaning kits sold by 3M, Memorex
  230.        and other companies.

  232.        Without CLN, all you can do is to use commands such as DIR to
  233.        get the disk drive moving and bring head into contact with the
  234.        cleaning disk and the cleaning solution on it. However, there
  235.        are two problems that only CLN can help you.
  236.  
  237.        Firstly, how many DIR commands you need to keep typing to keep
  238.        the disk head in contact with the cleaning disk for 30 to 60
  239.        seconds? With CLN you only need to type CLN to start and press
  240.        the ESC to end the process, no keystrokes in between. CLN also
  241.        "reads" both sides of every "track" to make full use of your
  242.        cleaning kit. Try CLN once and you will know how many keystrokes
  243.        it can save for you.

  245.        Secondly, since there is no data on the disk DOS will stop after
  246.        it fails to access the first track. This means you may only be
  247.        using 0.625% of the surface of your cleaning disk! (There are 80
  248.        tracks on a high density drive. Each track has two sides and you
  249.        are only using one side on the first track.)

  260.        CLN not only forces your system to keep on "reading" different
  261.        tracks on the cleaning disk and thus clean the head more
  262.        thoroughly but also provides you simple and easy ways to verify
  263.        that it does what it claims. Your will have the confidence that
  264.        you give your diskette drive the best care possible.

  267.        CHDK (CHeck DisKette)
  268.  
  269.        A utility which gives detailed information about a diskette. It
  270.        shows you the information contained in the system area of the
  271.        diskette, check the integrity of the system area, gives you
  272.        detailed layout of system area, root directory and data area and
  273.        then give you a report of the fragmentation on the diskette.

  275.        The program also shows you other important or interesting
  276.        information about a diskette. For example, it shows you the
  277.        sectors, clusters and tracks with active data, maximum number of
  278.        root directory entries.
