  75. This package contains Replicator (TM) by Stevenson Technical Services,
  76. Inc. (STSI).  This document contains only a brief description of the
  77. package and its features, along with instructions for its installation.
  78. Quite detailed documentation is included in the package, but it is in
  79. archived form, and is more easily read after installation.
  80.  
  81. Replicator is a program designed to take a "snap-shot" of a floppy
  82. diskette, and store the information in an image file.  This image file
  83. contains all of the information stored on the original diskette,
  84. including DOS, directories and sub-directories, programs, and data.
  85. The image file can be stored on a hard disk, and even transferred
  86. over a modem.  When the diskette is needed at some future date,
  87. Replicator decompresses the image file onto a blank (formatted)
  88. diskette, creating a look-alike version of the original.
  89.  
  90. In addition, Replicator maintains a complete database of the disk images
  91. that have been created.  Each disk image entry in the database can
  92. hold up to 10 description lines, the date the image file was created,
  93. and a complete list of all files contained on the original diskette!
  94. The database can be edited, browsed, searched, and printed using an easy
  95. push-button interface.  Network support is included for multi-user
  96. environments.

  98. Replicator is a shareware program.  This evaluation version includes
  99. all features of the program, and is not crippled in any way.  You may
  100. use it for up to 2 weeks, without charge (see REPLICAT.DOC for more
  101. details).  If you like the program, and wish to continue its use after
  102. this evaluation period, you are required to pay for the program (see
  103. REGISTER.DOC for more details).  Any fee you may have paid to others
  104. (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to obtain this evaluation version was a
  105. fee for their copying and distribution services, rather than a payment
  106. for continued use of the program.

  125. ===== Installation =====================================

  127. The installation procedure for Replicator is quite simple.  The
  128. package includes a program, "INSTALL.EXE", which automates the
  129. entire process.  You will need about 1 megabyte of available disk space
  130. on the hard drive on which you plan to install Replicator.
  131.  
  132. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  133. Replicator.
  134.

  136. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  137.  
  138. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  139.  
  140.    o  Place Replicator distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the
  141.       appropriate diskette drive.
  142.  
  143.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program on the distribution diskette.
  144.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  145.       the MS-DOS command, "a:install".
  146.  
  147.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  148.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  149.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
  150.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  151.       the Replicator files to that directory.  If you received
  152.       Replicator on two diskettes, you will need to insert Disk 2 in the
  153.       diskette drive when asked to do so.  If you so direct it, the
  154.       installation program will install executable programs and
  155.       documentation in other directories of your choice.

  158. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  159.  
  160. If you downloaded Replicator from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  161. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  162. following steps.
  163.  
  164.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  165.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  166.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  167.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  168.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  169.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  170.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  171.       the package.

  173.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  174.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  175.       the program files is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the MS-DOS
  176.       command, "c:\tempdir\install".

  195. (filename extension "doc") which have been installed.  In particular,
