D055: Spaceballs "State Art"
One of the best music (Rave) demos we
have seen. Spaceballs are setting the
standards for others to follow.
D088A: Madonna "Sex" [1/3 Disks]
D088B: Madonna "Sex" [2/3 Disks]
D088C: Madonna "Sex" [3/3 Disks]
D095A: Spaceballs "9 Fingers" [1/2 Disks]
D095B: Spaceballs "9 Fingers" [2/2 Disks]
If you thought Spaceballs "State of the
Art" was good then check this one out.
Improved graphics (impressive FX),
beefier sound and an all round show
stopper. We used this in February to
draw the crowds early on at an All
Formats Show!
D112A: Axis "Big Time" [AGA] [1/2 Disks]
D112B: Axis "Big Time" [AGA] [2/2 Disks]
This demo takes sample from the song
"Big Time Sensuality" from that
Icelandic singer, Bjork. Cleverly
looped to make it sound very well put
together. This demo is not just a music
demo - there are plenty of good visual
effects too, like the animation colour
fractal landscape at the start, the AGA
plasma, and some of that in-vogue bitmap
rotation. The sound quality is execellent
making it a quite nice all round demo.
CU Amiga 82%.
D122: Complex "Real" [AGA]
Must be the best, or one of the best,
AGA demos so far. Superb 3D landscape
effects that must be seen.
D130A: Fairlight/VD "Love" [AGA] [1/2 Disks]
D130B: Fairlight/VD "Love" [AGA] [2/2 Disks]
If you're into the kind of cheesy Euro
techno pop that's all over the charts
at the moment, you'll instantly warm
to this one from Fairlight, as it
opens with a slick Haddaway-style tune.
The graphics get going with a slow vector
sequence, but pick up with a nice plasma
effect made from a warped and twisted
bitmap. Next up is a shaded 3D logo which
is OK for the vector fans. The best effect
is the swarm of morphing dots that spin
around in three dimensions, forming
themselves into various patterns. There's
some more alternative plasma, a few neat
pictures, and a slow-moving texture-
mapped twisting vector cube. Following a
short ray-traced animation loop and a
smooth realtime-generated fractal zoom,
there's a nice bitmap zoom. The final
stage is a flight around a ray-traced
fairlight logo.
Depending on your TV or monitor, you may
have problems viewing certain parts, as
the demo jumps between 50 and 60Hz.
Enough to keep you entertained.
80% CU Amiga September 1994.
D136: Polka Bros "Gevalia"
Polka Brothers are excellent at coming
up with their own unique style of demos:
intense, humourous, always fresh with
new effects, tied-in perfectly with a
fast and funky soundtrack. Gevalia is no
exception. On the menu we have: abstract
vector patterns, a cartoon crocodile, a
very strange stylised animation, a
twisty cube-within-a-cube, a delicious
new swirly pattern routine, a picture,
a super-speedy tunnel sequence, the
credits and an abrupt end. It's short,
but right in your face all the way
through (it's so fast that I've had to
reset and watch it four times just to
make a list of the effects!). A short,
sharp shock on a disk.
88% CU Amiga September 1994.
D145: CCCP "Rave"
A very poor start to this demo but it
leads into a decent Rave.
D146: Pygmy "Extension"
D147A: Fairlight "Breath Taker" [AGA] [4MB] [HD] [1/5 Disks]
D147B: VD "Breath Taker" [AGA] [4MB] [HD] [2/5 Disks]
D147C: VD "Breath Taker" [AGA] [4MB] [HD] [3/5 Disks]
D147D: VD "Breath Taker" [AGA] [4MB] [HD] [4/5 Disks]
D147E: VD "Breath Taker" [AGA] [4MB] [HD] [5/5 Disks]
This is a large demo. So large, that
you need 3.5MBs of hard drive space
and 4MBs of fast ram to run it. In a
break away from the normal demo
traditions, Breath Taker is mostly made
up of pre-rendered 3D visuals, rather
than realtime generated effects, hence
the massive memory requirements.
It's a collection of abstract 3D
animations, pinned together with brief
captions and comments. The Virtual Dreams
team have created a dark world of
throbbing tunnels, mountains, organic
chambers and extra-terrestrial
constructions. These are viewed in
wonderful "fly-around-o-vision", in a
chunky window that fills the middle third
of the screen. It's all set to a
burbling acid soundtrack. Very nice.
89% CU Amiga November 1994.
D148: Urban "Justice '94" [AGA] [2MB]
Yes mister, I'll take two please! This
is the best demo of Summer '94 by a
long shot! It's a sound and vision
extravaganza, with the best soundtrack
ever to grace an Amiga demo. Released
to promote a new EP from Urban Shakedown,
it's a remix of Some Justice, the
hardcore anthem of 1992, produced by
Urban Shakers themselves, and reworked
into a colossal bass-heavy jungle stomper.
Stick this through a decent hi-fi and
you just won't believe the sub-bass!
If that wasn't enough already, it's even
got that brillian Ce Ce Rogers vocal. The
graphics are hot too. Jungle lined
tunnels, warped animations,
slippery plasma and hard-hitting strobes.
Get a copy now!
94% CU Amiga October 1994.
D149: Mystic "Ilex"
A wonderful demo with a number of
original routines. The most memorable
part are the two digitised Karate fight
scenes. Two white suit clad guys
perform on the screen, ending in one
unfortunate with a kick to the family
jewels. The other parts of the demo
include dot shapes, vectors and picture
interludes.
D151: Digital "7th Heaven"
D153A: Complex "Seduction" [1/2 Disks]
D153B: Complex "Seduction" [2/2 Disks]
The top demo group are back with an
excellent music disk this time. If your
a collector of music disks then this
should be on your wanted list.
D154: Spaceballs "Superanao Tapes"
A very decent music compilation from
Spaceballs - pity about the graphics as
there isn't any!
D155: Mystic "Dirt"
D156: Beton "Rumble Bubble"
D157: Urban "Justice '94" [AGA] [2MB]
Some Justice '94 the 030/040 version
D158A: Rebels "Switchback" [AGA] [1/2 Disks]
D158B: Rebels "Switchback" [AGA] [2/2 Disks]
Wow! Yummy video feedback gets this
one off to a slippery start. Then it's
the turn of a variety of blurred
kaliedoscope patters to trance you out,
which they do along to the sound of
a better than average Euro demo tune,
beefed up with a nice drum loop and
atmospheric chords and breakdowns. Some
good static artwork precedes the next
bout of visual head-smashing effects,
which include some good variations on
the plasma theme and some fractal zooms.
Slip in disk two, and it's time for the
climax: a stomach-churning ride around a
rollercoaster that's frighteningly
convincing.
The adrenaline is pumped up further by
the fierce guitar-lead techno-rock
soundtrack. A bit of all right and no
mistake!
91% CU Amiga January 1995.
8/10 Active Software rating.
D159: 242 "The Trackers"
Starts with a rave-demo musical affair
followed by some animations of three
space-ships leaving their docking area.
The idea of the demo is to follow the
ships throughout their journey. Most
of the journey is quite hard to
distinguish due to the low quality
animation but the best parts are the
zoom tunnel with strobe effects, and
the sequence where you follow the three
ships into the valley.
D160: Ozone "Swamp Thing"
You know! This is the song from chart
-toppers "The Grid". Excellent.
D161: Haurobb "Jammin"
A bit up and down this one, but when
it's good, it's rather nice indeed.
Highlights are the cute snail at the
beginning, and the ultra mellow chill
out part at the end, with its silky
smooth blurred background and well
laidback soundtrack, which would win
this month's soundtrack of the month
award if one existed, purely for its
thick warm fluffy duvet chords.
It's a great demo to switch on if you
want some peace and quite and send the
kids off to noddy land.
80% CU Amiga January 1995.
7/10 Active Software rating.
D162: Melon "BOO=II"
Really simple and quick demo.
D163: Prodigy "No Good"
Prodigy "Your'e no good for me" remix
of the same song.
D164A: TRSI "Artifice" [AGA] [1/2 Disks]
D164B: TRSI "Artifice" [AGA] [2/2 Disks]
Not a bad demo all round from the TRSI
guys.
D165A: Infect "Believe" [AGA] [1/2 Disks]
D165B: Infect "Believe" [AGA] [2/2 Disks]
Infect's "Do you Believe?" with
increased speed on 030 machines!
D166: TSB "Ventilator" [AGA] [2MB CHIP+]
D167: Neoplasia "Bam Booze"
Short and sweet demo.
D168: Movement "Numb"
D169A: Duplo "My Mamma is" [1/2 Disks]
D169B: Duplo "My Mamma is" [2/2 Disks]
Talk about spoilt for choice! My Mamma
is yet another full-on two disk demo
that won't fail to impress. First up
we've got a good fractal zoom, then
there's the obligatory bitmap zoom
section, which includes niffty ripple
effects. My fave bit next: the smoothest,
slickest video feedback yet seen
(basically this is loads of abstract
patterns that spew out of the middle of
the screen).
Disk two brings on a slightly different
kind of tunnel, more bitmap contortions,
and some phong shaded vectors. By this
time the acid music has switched to a
jarre-influenced peice. That'll do nicely.
89% CU Amiga January 1995.
7/10 Active Software rating.
D170: Freezers "Wit Premium" [AGA]
Here's one for the vector fans. Some
of the fastest vector graphics we have
ever seen are on display here, ranging
from speedy trips around city scapes,
to 3D logos, single frame texture maps,
and a decent tunnel-zoom combo effect.
You also get a few top-notch still
pictures, and a gory bit at the end.
It's all put to a stomping breakbeat
techno soundtrack. Check, as they say.
90% CU Amiga January 1995.
9/10 Active Software rating.
D172A: Sub "Lurking Shadows" [1/2 Disks]
D172B: Sub "Lurking Shadows" [2/2 Disks]
A rave demo in parts. The best effect
in this demo is the Microcosm-type
plasma zoom at then end.
D173: Zoo "Map"
A dot-tunnel sequence (fast), very
decent vector cube which turns one way
with 64-colour pictures on each side
turning another.
D174: Melon "Ninja"
Very basic start. Melon Design do
present some fairly unique demos and
this is another in this range.
The main feature is "find and watch
the Ninja". It really consists of a
decent, well drawn animation of the
ninja in action.
Quite well done but very short.
5/10 Active Software rating.
D175A: Silents "Soul Kitchen" [020 1200 ONLY] [1/2 Disks]
D175B: Silents "Soul Kitchen" [020 1200 ONLY] [2/2 Disks]
A really decent demo but one that
works on limited machines.
D176: TRSI "Smash you"
TRSI "We will smash you!"
D177A: Digital "Eternal" [AGA] [1MB FAST MEM+] [1/2 Disks]
D177B: Digital "Eternal" [AGA] [1MB FAST MEM+] [2/2 Disks]

D178C: VD "Psychedelic" [AGA] [3MB+] [HD] [3/3 Disks]
Virtual Dreams/Fairlight "Psychedelic"
Voted 2nd at the Party 94.
MY GOD! Routines after routines that
will blow your mind. I am not even
going to try to describe this one...
you think it has finished, then more
excellent routines.
The best demo yet.

D179A: Polka Bros "The Prey" [AGA] [1/2 Disks]
D179B: Polka Bros "The Prey" [AGA] [2/2 Disks]
Very decent demo.
D180A: Oxyron "Killing Time" [AGA] [1/4 Disks]
D180B: Oxyron "Killing Time" [AGA] [2/4 Disks]
D180C: Oxyron "Killing Time" [AGA] [3/4 Disks]
D180D: Oxyron "Killing Time" [AGA] [4/4 Disks]
This is Oxyron's first ever Amiga demo,
so when I read this I thought "well
it may be reasonable then". I was wrong.
Firstly, they present us their
"Rot-Zoomer" which consists of a 4096
colour, fast, full-screen image which
then transforms into a negative version.
We are then treated to a 3D texture
labyrinth which contains pictures on the
wall which animate as you move past them.
The demo then leads into a realtime
texture city (very fast), next IFS
fractals, mutating line vectors with 812
lines (very decent effect), more textured
vectors in 4096 colours and finally,
texture morphing and a texture tunneel.
Certainly impressive for their first
Amiga demo!

Duplo "Much ado about nothing"
D182A: Dream "Toothbrush" [1/2 Disks]
D182B: Dream "Toothbrush" [2/2 Disks]

demo - extract this.

D185A: Polka Bros "Twisted" [1/4 Disks]
D185B: Polka Bros "Twisted" [2/4 Disks]
D185C: Polka Bros "Twisted" [3/4 Disks]
D185D: Polka Bros "Twisted" [4/4 Disks]
Polka Bros. always give us a good
show and this is no exception.
Loads of twisted text, excellent
sound track, loads of un-describable
scenes, the usual plasma zooms,
superb morphing anim sequence, good
circulating scroller and excellent
vector tunnel sequence.
Really good overall, and even better
towards the end.
8/10 Active Software rating.
D186A: Oxygene "Indigo" [1/2 Disks]
D186B: Oxygene "Indigo" [2/2 Disks]
A reasonable demo this one. Contains
a very decent rotating city (mind you
the text presented on top is nothing
special), a basic doom sequence which
zapppps into something much, much
better, a picture warped and bounced,
morphing flame objects, some decent
shape animations and finally, a fairly
well drawn tunnel sequence.
6/10 Active Software rating.
D187: Apex "Dotsy"
This demo has a Melon Design feel to
it: Cute, colourful etc.
Check out the scroller on the vector
-dot landscape!
7/10 Active Software rating.
D189: Andromeda "Nexus 7"
Voted FIRST at the Party 94!!
Starts with a rotating "milky-way"
visual set and leads into the quickest
landscape rotation yet!
All the routines in this demo are
short but very powerful. This is how
they should be. A set of fire designed
vector objects are then present on the
screen (hard to describe!) which lead
to a final vector which contains a
number of holes that allow light to
escape in beams. These light beams
have to be seen.
The demo presents more interesting
features such as shade-clusters that
are unique, motion blurred 256-colour
picture, a bouncing ball with a
difference, plasma zoom and a 3D ray-
traced scroller.
The best part of this demo is the
superb raytraced environment which
contains a beautiful smooth lamp
animtion that bounces its way
throughout this environment: up the
stairs, across vast spaces and more!
You can see why the demo one first
prize!
10/10 Active Software rating.

D190B: Rebels "Whammer Slamm" [AGA] [2/3 Disks]
D190C: Rebels "Whammer Slamm" [AGA] [3/3 Disks]
Very decent demo from the Rebels.
D191A: Bomb "Motion Origin 2" [AGA] [1/2 Disks]
D191B: Bomb "Motion Origin 2" [AGA] [2/2 Disks]
Voted THIRD at the Party 94!
This demo starts with a decent tunnel
-doom type sequence with rotating
vectors within the "ceiling" and
"floor". An excellent start leads to
a landscape rotation (in four colours
but very fast), realtime movement
throughout a vast room: 360 degrees
movement with vectors appearing from
the floor and a huge "snake spiral"
(remember those spring-spiral toys
that used to bounce down your stairs!)
that moves within the room.
After this the four-colour landscape
rountine from earlier transforms into
the same rountine but in 16-colours.
The "WOW!" factor is now enabled as we
enter a scene with a large morphing
animation in the background with
another morphing anim in the
foreground.
If all the above wasn't enough to make
this one of the best demos of all-time
we now enter the VERY BEST DOOM ARENA
EVER!!! The demo moves very quickly
around a doom atmosphere which has the
most detail ever: it even has well
drawn pictures on the walls. The final
part of the demo is the best so far!
You can ENTER THE DOOM WORLD YOURSELF
and move around using the mouse.
Walk up steps and more.
