===== Information for Users ("READ-ME") ================
This package contains GOLDMINE SLOT CASINO Version 2.00.
This document contains only a brief description of the package and its
features, along with instructions for its installation. Quite detailed
documentation is included in the package, but it is more easily read
after installation.
If you've ever wished you could play slot machines all day long and
never have to worry about losing the rent money, this is the program
for you... Written by a real-life slot machine designer, you have never
seen a more realistic slot game on a personal computer. You'll believe
you're playing the real thing.
GOLDMINE SLOT CASINO is a shareware program. This evaluation version
includes all features of the program, but it will not save your account
information. You may use it for up to 30 days, without charge. If you
like the program, and wish to continue its use after this evaluation
period, you are required to pay for the program (see REGISTER.DOC for
more details). Any fee you may have paid to others (disk vendors,
dealers, etc.) to obtain this evaluation version was a fee for their
copying and distribution services. Unless you register, the author will
receive no payment.

===== Installation =====================================
GOLDMINE will run from a floppy disk. However, some of the files are
rather large and floppy disks are rather slow, and there will be delays
when you change screens. Installation to a hard disk is recommended.
The installation procedure for GOLDMINE is quite simple. The package
includes programs which automate the entire process. You will need about
1.2 Megabytes of available disk space on the hard drive on which you plan
to install GOLDMINE.
The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received the
program, and whether you are installing from DOS or Windows.
INSTALLING FROM DISKETTE
To install from diskette, you need to perform the following steps.
o Place GOLDMINE distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the
appropriate diskette drive.
o Execute the installation program on the distribution diskette.
For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
the MS-DOS commands, "a:" to switch to the "a" drive, then
"install"
o Or from Windows, click the "File" menu, select "run" and enter
"a:setup" in the dialogue box.
INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
If you downloaded GOLDMINE from a BBS (or received it in the form of
archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
following steps.
o Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
directory on your hard drive. The procedure for doing this
varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
perform this step. If not, you should be able to obtain
directions for this from the same source from which you received
the package.
o Execute the installation program which you have extracted. For
example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
the <product> package is C:\TEMP, you would execute the MS-DOS
command, "cd \temp" to switch to the \TEMP directory, then
"install".
o Or from Windows, click the "File" menu, select "run" and enter
"c:\temp\setup" in the dialogue box.
ALL INSTALLATIONS
Follow the instructions presented by the installation program. You will
have a chance to approve installation before any changes are actually
made to the contents of your hard drive. The program will suggest a
destination directory, and will copy its files to that directory. If you
so direct it, the installation program will install into another
directory of your choice (but Windows users, see note below). It will
make no other changes; specifically, it will not modify your autoexec.bat
or config.sys files.
When you're satisfied that the installation was successful, you should
delete the temporary directory FROM which you installed <product>
(C:\TEMP, in the above discussion), including all its contents.
FOR WINDOWS USERS ONLY
Like many MS-DOS programs, GOLDMINE requires special handling by
Windows. You MUST run the program by executing SLOT.PIF, not the
main file SLOT.EXE, to inform Windows of its requirements. Normally
the Windows SETUP program will take care of all this for you and
nothing further needs to be done. However, the default SLOT.PIF file
instructs Windows to look for the program in the default directory,
C:\GOLDMINE. If you have installed to a different drive or directory,
you will need to change the .PIF or shortcut file to describe the new
path. Brief instructions are contained in the Manual, but if you are
uncertain how to do this, don't change the suggested directory when
you install the program.
YOU'RE READY TO GO
MS-DOS users, change to the directory where you installed Goldmine and
type SLOT. WIndows users, double-click on the slot machine icon. Enjoy!

===== About VENDINFO Files =============================
Each VENDINFO.DIZ file contains extensive information about a product.
This "human-readable" section is followed by a compressed data record
useable by automated tools. The data record allows BBSes and other
distributors to automate package handling, and provides users with a
wealth of product information. VENDINFO tools (free viewer for users,
free or inexpensive processors for distributors, editors for authors)
are available from many sources, including the originators of VENDINFO:
