  1. POWER PACK MANUAL INSTALL
  2. for disks 1 through 5
  3.  
  4. Note: The following instructions require you to be able to use basic DOS and 
  5. Windows commands and text editors. If you are not familiar with using these 
  6. commands or editors, please refer to your DOS and Windows User's Guides for 
  7. further information.
  8.  
  9. I. Enter the following at the C:\ prompt to create four directories:
  10.  
  11. 1. MD POWERPAK
  12. 2. CD POWERPAK
  13. 3. MD MONO16
  14. 4. MD MIDISOFT
  15. 5. MD QUIKTOUR

  18. II. Copy Install disks to appropriate directories. Assuming drive A: is your 
  19. source disk, use the format " COPY  A:\*.*   C:\DIRECTORY", where 
  20. "C:\DIRECTORY" is the path to your application.
  21.  
  22. 1. COPY DISK 1 TO C:\POWERPAK
  23. 2. COPY DISK 2 TO C:\POWERPAK\MONO16
  24. 3.  Put DISK 3 in drive A: (or B: as applicable), and type the following:
  25.     
  26.     (Note: Enter the following two lines as ONE line, leaving a space 
  27.     between them. If installing from B:\, use "B:\" in the place of "A:\")
  28.  
  29.     
  30.     COPY  /B  C:\POWERPAK\MONO16\FB_22K16.DLL + A:\FB_22K16.DLL  
  31.  
  32.     C:\POWERPAK\MONO16\FB_22K16.DLL
  33.     
  34. 4. COPY DISK 4 TO C:\POWERPAK\MIDISOFT
  35. 5. COPY DISK 5 TO C:\POWERPAK\QUIKTOUR

  38. III. Expand compressed files as needed.
  39.  
  40. 1. Edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT and add " ;C:\POWERPAK " to the end of the PATH line
  41. 2. Re-boot your computer
  42. 3. From the POWERPAK directory type LHARC X PROGRAMS and [ENTER]
  43. 4. From the MIDISOFT directory type LHARC X MIDISOFT and [ENTER]
  44. 5.  From the QUIKTOUR directory type LHARC X MVPOWER and [ENTER]

  47. IV. Setting up the Drivers
  48.  
  49. (Note: If you do not have the original Pro AudioSpectrum installation disks, 
  50. you may wish to copy the following drivers to a backup directory:
  51.  
  52. a) From the PROAUDIO (or other directory containing your Media Vision DOS 
  53. utilities) copy MVSOUND.SYS, PREC.EXE, PKCD.EXE, PMIX.EXE, and PROMIX.EXE to 
  54. the backup directory. 
  55.  
  56. b) From the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, copy MVMIXER.DRV, MVPROAUD.DRV, 
  57. OPL3.DRV and MMMIXER.DLL to the backup directory.

  59.  
  60. 1.  From the POWERPAK directory type the following:
  61.     
  62.     COPY   MMMIXER.DLL  C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM  then [ENTER]
  63.     
  64.     COPY   *.DRV  C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM  then [ENTER]
  65.  
  66.     COPY   MVSOUND.SYS  C:\PROAUDIO then [ENTER]

  68.     (Note: C:\PROAUDIO is the default directory for many Media Vision       products. Your product may be installed in a different directory. The   destination path should refer to that in which your Media Vision utilities      are installed)

  71. V. Setting up Windows Applications
  72.  
  73. 1. From the Windows Program Manager use the File/New menu selection to create 
  74. the POWER PACK Program GROUP.
  75.  
  76. 2. From the Windows Program Manager use the File/New menu selection to crate 
  77. the new Program ITEM for MONOLOGUE (MONO_16.EXE), DICTIONARY MANAGER 
  78. (DICTMGR.EXE), MIDISOFT RECORDING SESSION (SESSION.EXE) and QUICK TOUR 
  79. (MVPOWER.EXE), from their respective directories, and POCKET RECORDER 
  80. (PREC.EXE), POCKET CD (PKCD.EXE), PRO MIXER (PROMIX.EXE), POCKET MIXER 
  81. (PMIX.EXE), and the UPDATE document (UPDATE.WRI)  from the POWERPAK directory. 
  82. This will create icons for the above applications.

  91. VI. Alternate Monologue install for DOS
  92.  
  93. If you need to access Monologue in DOS, an 8-bit DOS version is supplies on your Power Pack Installation Disk 1. To install this version, you will need a formatted 720 K, or high density 5╝" or 3╜" disk.

  95. 1. Copy MONO8.LZH to your POWERPAK directory 
  96. 2. Put the blank, formatted disk in the appropriate drive
  97. 3. From the DOS prompt in the POWERPAK directory (C:\POWERPAK), type 
  98. LHARC X MONO8 A:\ (or B:\ if your blank disk is in that drive)
  99. 4. You can now run INSTALL from the floppy drive.

  101. VII. To save space on your hard drive, you may wish to delete all the files whth .LZH extensions. To do this, type DEL  *.LZH from each of the above directories.
