To import the log file from BPM into a File Express database,
follow these instructions:
1. Enter the File Express program. When asked for the
database to use, choose BPM. The BPM database should have
been recieved along with these instructions.
2. Choose Import/Export/Clone from the main menu. Choose
Import a File from the resulting menu.
3. If you are importing a comma delimited log file
(produced with the /comma switch in BPM), move on to step
4. If not, move on to step 5. If the file you wish to
import contains both types, you must first use a text
editing program to separate the file into two new files:
one with comma delimited records only, one with
fixed-length records. Do that, then start over with these
instructions.
4. Do this step if you are importing a comma delimited log
file. If your log file has fixed-length fields, move
on to step 5.
From the File Express Import menu, choose Mail Merge file.
Then choose 1 (all fields on same line) for the Import
field arrangement choice. The delimiter is a comma, which
is the default delimiter presented. From this point,
please read the prompts presented, making choices according
to your own personal preferences.
Move on to step 6.
5. Do this step if you are importing a fixed-length log
file. If your log file has comma delimited fields, use
step 4 instead.
From the File Express Import menu, choose Text Editor (SDF)
file. From this point, please read the prompts presented,
making choices according to your own personal preferences.
Move on to step 6.
6. At this point, the File Express BPM database contains all
the records generated by the BPM program. You may now do
anything with the database which File Express allows.
