  1. HOW TO PLAY TONK

  3. The card game, Tonk, is played with a standard
  4. 52 card deck. The game of Tonk can be played with
  5. any number of players. This is a two handed version
  6. with a human player playing against a computer
  7. opponent.
  8.  
  9. The game starts with each player being dealt five
  10. cards. Before any cards are played, a player has
  11. the option of 'Tonking' by clicking on the 'Tonk'
  12. button. Otherwise the player can take a card from
  13. the deck, or take the top card from the heap by
  14. clicking on it.

  16. If a player clicks the 'Tonk' button, the scores
  17. of all the players are totaled. The player with
  18. the lowest hand wins the bet. The amount of the
  19. bet is automatically added to the winning player
  20. and subtracted from all other players. A player
  21. can click on 'Tonk' only at the beginning of
  22. their turn.

  24. Tonk is very similar in play to Gin Rummy. If you
  25. have three or more cards of the same rank, or the
  26. same suite and sequence, you can opt to 'Spread'
  27. the cards. To 'Spread' cards you simply click on
  28. three or more cards you wish to spread, and then
  29. click the 'Spread' button. The cards are sent to
  30. the 'Player Spread' area. A player can only
  31. spread cards at the beginning of their turn.

  33. If a player clicks on either the Card Deck or the
  34. Heap card, a card from the deck, or heap will be
  35. added to their hand. The player must then discard
  36. a card from their hand. A player can not discard
  37. a card chosen from the Heap.

  39. The goal of Tonk is to obtain the lowest scoring
  40. possible hand by either spreading cards, or by
  41. keeping only low valued cards. The King, Queen and
  42. Jack are worth 10 points, the Ace is worth 1 point,
  43. and all other cards are worth their face value.
