Welcome To Verona Beach,
Included in this file are Installation Instructions,
System Requirements, and Tips for increasing performance.
Installation:
WINDOWS 3.1:
1. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Select RUN from the File menu of the Program Manager.
3. Type "D:\SETUP.EXE" and press Enter
(If your CD-ROM drive is labeled differently,
substitute the appropriate letter)
(This copies the necessary files to your hard
drive and creates a Program Group)
4. Go to the Program Manager and double-click the
"Fox Interactive" Program Group icon.
5. Double-click on the "Romeo & Juliet" icon to begin.
WINDOWS 95:
1. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Select RUN from the Start menu.
3. Type "D:\SETUP.EXE" and press Enter
(If your CD-ROM drive is labeled differently,
substitute the appropriate letter)
(This copies the necessary files to your hard
drive and creates a Program Group)
4. On the Desktop, click the "Start" button.
5. In the pop-up menu highlight "Programs".
6. In the pop-up menu highlight "Fox Interactive".
7. In the pop-up menu click "Romeo & Juliet" to begin.
MACINTOSH:
1. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Copy the "Romeo & Juliet" folder to your hard drive.
3. Double-click on the "Romeo & Juliet" folder.
4. Double-click on the "Romeo & Juliet CD-ROM" icon
(inside Romeo & Juliet folder) to begin.
System Requirements:
Minimum platform requirements for PCs:
- 486/66 processor; Pentium recommended
- Windows 3.1 or higher
- 8MB of installed RAM (5MB of free RAM)
- Multi-session capable double-speed CD-ROM drive;
quad-speed recommended
- Multi-session CD-ROM drivers
- Hard drive with at least 20MB free
- 640x480 display in 256 colors (8-bit color)
- 16-bit Windows compatible sound card
- Mouse
Minimum platform requirements for Macintosh:
- 68040/33 processor; PowerMac 601/60 processor recommended
- System 7.1 or higher
- 8MB of installed RAM (5MB of free RAM)
- Multi-session capable double-speed CD-ROM drive;
quad-speed recommended
- Apple CD-ROM Drivers version 5.1 or higher
- Hard drive with at least 20MB free
- 640x480 display in 256 colors (8-bit color)
Performance Tips:
GENERAL TIPS
1. Be sure the Romeo & Juliet CD-ROM is in your CD-ROM Drive
before running the program.
2. Exit all other applications before running the program.
MACINTOSH MACHINES
1. You must copy the entire contents of the
"Romeo & Juliet" folder to your hard drive.
2. For better Performance do not use Virtual Memory
when running the program.
3. For systems with more RAM, increase the memory
allocation for the program.
a. Highlight the program Icon
b. Select Get Info from the File menu
c. Enter a new amount in the Preferred size field.
WINDOWS MACHINES
1. Your monitor should be set to 256 colors to run
this program.
2. To remove the program from your hard drive use the
Un-Install function included in the SETUP.EXE
program on the CD.
a. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.
b. Select RUN from the Start menu.
c. Type "D:\SETUP.EXE" and press Enter.
(If your CD-ROM drive is labeled differently,
substitute the appropriate letter)
d. Click on the Un-Install button.
3. If you are on a Windows machine and your video card
is not displaying the images properly, try the
following:
a. Open the R&J.INI file found in the directory
with R&J.EXE.
b. Find the "[Palette]" entry.
c. Remove the semi-colon (;) from the first line
of the entry.
d. Be sure the line reads Animation=0.
When you have completed the preceeding the entry
should appear as follows:
[Palette]
Animation=0
; 1: allows director to take control of the palette
; for fast palette effects and transitions.
; 0: prevents director from taking control of the
; palette so other apps, wallpaper etc. look
; better but palette effects and transitions
; will be slower.
4. If you are running Windows 3.1 be sure your Swap File
is set as permanent and the size is 20 megs.
a. Double-click on Control Panels inside the
Main program group.
b. Double-click on 386 Enhanced.
c. Click Virtual Memory button.
At this point you should see the Swap File settings.
If the size is not 19656 kb or larger, or if the
"Type" is not "Permanent" then do the following.
d. Click Change.
e. Click on the pulldown menu next to "Type" and
select "Permanent".
f. Enter 19656 kb in size field.
g. Click OK.
h. Click Yes to accept changes.
i. Click OK to close 386 Enhanced Control Panel.
k. Exit Windows and restart your machine.
