- The AMUG CD-ROM, also known as "BBS In A BOX," is compiled by Michael Bean
- and the Arizona Macintosh Users Group -- it is, in fact, a copy of the massive
- hard disk they use for their own BBS.
-
- The following is adapted from descriptive notes supplied on the CD-ROM:
-
- "BBS IN A BOX" is the first CD ever produced for the Macintosh BBS that
- provides over 8,400 Macintosh files in compressed format with directories for
- TeleFinder, Mansion and Second Sight BBSs. These directories are provided on twenty-two
- topics including Art, Business, DA's, Fonts, GIF's, Games, Films, Newsletter Articles,
- HyperCard, Music, MIDI, Mac II, QuickTime Movies, System 7 tools, Telecommunications, Utilities,
- Word Processing and more!
-
- Another feature of this CD is a text file directory of all of the files on the
- CD located in AMUG CD:Files:. This file is called AMUG Directory and is tab
- delineated so that you may import the data into your favorite database. This
- information may also be displayed and searched with a DA included on the disk
- called Edit DA. This database contains the file name, BBS name, version, date,
- description and more. In addition, each of the 24 topic folders have an alpha
- and a date listing of the files in that specific folder topic in the same tab
- delineated format with Name, path, version, date, and description as well.
- Your BBS users or yourself may then use these text directories to search for
- desirable files off line and to create powerful search databases. In this way,
- any particular file will be easier to find and know what it does. This tool is
- great for answering those tough questions like. "Do you have this?" or "Do you
- have anything that does that?" You will find these text files great for
- navigation through this huge CD data. Another search tool available is the On
- Location directory on the disk in the Utility folder. Simply select it and use
- On Location to search for files, data or information.
-
- Decompression.... This disk includes a directory specifically for users to
- obtain the decompression utilities easily.
-
- If you have other items on your wish list forward them to me,
- or call Michael at 602-892-5454.
-
