This disk is dedicated to my wife, Gail, a special lady who
has displayed incredible patience in enduring the long hours a
bulletin board can require, not to mention the hundreds of extra
long hours necessary to put together this CD-ROM!!
I also want to take a moment to acknowledge some of those who
have made my experience as a Sysop especially enjoyable. First,
I want to thank Tom Mack and Jon Martin for their dedication to
RBBS-PC. I have come to regard both of them as very dear friends.
I will always have fond memories of the night before my wedding
when Jon & Tom flew to North Dakota and they, along with Jim
Grettum, Gene Lowry, John Friel and myself, had an all-night RBBS
"get-together" and listened to Tom Mack tell stories that made us
laugh until we cried! And I want to thank Joanie Martin, Jon's
wonderful wife, for her patience in fielding hundreds of late night
and weekend phone calls over the past six years while Jon and I
worked at debugging the latest glitch that turned up in RBBS beta
testing. Thanks, Joanie! And while I haven't had to bother Sheila
Mack nearly as often, I thank her for her patience through all the
craziness and long hours Tom has invested in RBBS. And a big
thanks to Ken Goosens Doug Azzarito for all their hard work on
enhancing RBBS-PC and keeping it at the "front of the pack" in
bulletin boards!
A special thanks to Jim Grettum, my good friend and "Assistant
Sysop" in Fargo, and now the Sysop of RBBS-PC of Fargo, my old
board. Jim has contributed countless hours to RBBS and exemplifies
what RBBS is all about. In addition to his professional skills as
a CPA, he' s a pretty good programmer, as evidenced by his VIEWDIR
utility included with this disc.
A special debt of gratitude is owed Dave Crane of Dallas
RBBS-PC who contributed over 5,000 files to this edition of
RBBS-in-a-Box. Thanks, Dave, for all your help. And a special
thanks to Jay Dodd, without whose help this disc would never have
been completed. And thanks to Kelly, his wonderful wife, for
putting up with long, lonely nights while Jay and I slaved away on
this disc!
Thanks also to: Gene Lowry and Rod Bowman for their beta
testing help and dedication; John Friel for that incredible
communications program Qmodem!; Richard Driggers for getting me
through numerous hard disk rough spots; Don Smith for his help in
getting net mail up and running on my system; Dave Hacquebord, for
his help and generosity; Dean Rott for his generous support of the
board; Dan and Karen Moore for their friendship; and the many,
many other fellow Sysops who have added so richly to RBBS-PC, the
names of whom would fill this booklet!
And, thanks to the "friends" of RBBS-PC of Chicago (some
people call them subscribers) without whom I could not continue to
provide the quality service we have become known for over the
years.
Last, but by no means least, thanks to the thousands of
software authors who continue to provide the PC community with
excellent software at a very reasonable price. Support them by
registering your Shareware!! We want to especially thanks Phil
Katz of PKware for his kindness in allowing us to provide the PKZIP
utilities with this CD-ROM, making the installation a snap. Since
the PKZIP utilities are an indispensable part of using
RBBS-in-a-Box, please take the time to register your copies with
PKware today!
