MAKING YOUR MICROSOFT MOUSE WORK
There have been several problems reported lately with
the Microsoft Mouse. The most common has been that the
computer will lock up after a CTRL-ALT-DEL. Nearly all of
these problems are caused by the interupt jumper on the
Mouse card being in the wrong place.
There are four positions, INT 2,3,4 & 5. It is usually
shipped with the jumper in position, but this may vary. The
table below shows what position the jumper should NOT be in
for different setups. It will often work with the jumper in
more than one position.
If You have..... Do NOT use pair:
IBM-PC with fixed disk 5
IBM 3270 PC with fixed disk 5
IBM PC-XT 5
Asynchronous or binary synchronous
communications adapter
: First serial port (COM 1) 4
Same, except 2nd serial port (COM 2) 3
IBM PC-AT (all) 2
IBM 3270 PC 2
Note that some setups may exclude all but one
or two positions. For example, the 3270 with a hard
disk and a Modem in COM1 cannot use 2,4 or 5. The
jumper must be in position 3 for this setup.
I hope this helps solve any problems with the
Mouse. If you have any questions leave me a note on
the Phoenix RBBS at 602-936-3058.
