THE DIRECTORY NOW AVAILABLE FOR INEXPENSIVE SOFTWARE
The Directory, a full-color catalog describing Personally
Developed Software for IBM Personal Computers, features
affordable PC programs.
The software products listed in The Directory represent
quality programs exclusively marketed and distributed by
IBM, which provide low-end functional capabilities at
attractive, competitive prices. Certain programs in the
Directory can be purchased in groups at prices substantially
lower than those of individual products.
Personally developed software has on-line documentation and
generic packaging that make it possible to keep prices
low.Each program listed in The Directory contains a minimum
configuration statement.
The first issue of The Directory features 36 programs in the
categories of education, entertainment, personal productiv-
ity and business. Prices begin at $14.95, and over half the
products are priced at $19.95 or less.
The Directory is available at no charge until December 31,
1984, thereafter by subscription. A one-year subscription is
$10 for three issue; single issues are $4.
The Directory and the programs listed in it are available by
calling toll-free 1-800-IBM-PCSW, or from participating
Authorized IBM Personal Computer Dealers and Authorized IBM
Personal Computer Software Dealers.
Brief descriptions of the 36 programs listed in the first
issue of The Directory follow. Subsequent listings will have
cumulative listings that include software that was available
earlier.

o Beyond Basic BASIC (a Private Tutor course)
Beyond Basic BASIC, a Private Tutor course, teaches
advanced techniques of IBM Personal Computer BASIC.This
product includes BASIC subroutines you can use in your
own programs.
o Algebra Tutor (a Private Tutor course)
Algebra Tutor, a Private Tutor course, presents the fun-
damentals of algebra.Its scope ranges from integers and
fractions to solving quadratic equations. This product
features an on-line workbook.
o Morse Code Drills
With Morse Code Drills you can use your IBM Personal
Computer to learn Morse code or teach it to others.You
can choose from five modes: instruct, drill, visual
instruct, message and test.
o Matrix Madness
Matrix Madness consists of sets of ten matrix problems
that challenge you to complete a pattern quickly. This
product helps develop pattern recognition skills, psy-
chomotor coordination and concentration.
o These United States
Facts and comparisons to test your knowledge of the fif-
ty states are presented in this educational game, These
United States.
o Adventures with Decimals
o Adventures with Fractions
o Adventures with Negative Numbers
o Adventures with Decimals, Fractions and Negative Numbers
The objective of these games is to solve problems quick-
ly and score points by finding your way out of a castle.
Adventures with Decimals provides practice in working
with decimals. Adventures with Fractions provides prac-
tice with fractions. Adventures with Negative Numbers
sudies the use of negative numbers.
All three products are available in a single package
titled Adventures with Decimals, Fractions and Negative
Numbers at a substantially reduced price.

o Kaleidoscope
Kaleidoscope generates colorful, ever-changing designs
on your color monitor. You can choose to control the
program or to let it create random designs.
o 3 K Trivia
3 K Trivia is an entertaining and educational party game
that challenges you with 3,000 questions in several cat-
egories and also lets you add your own questions.
o Backgammon
Backgammon is a richly detailed, colorful game for
beginning backgammon players. It also includes a
two-player game for more experienced players.
o Crypto-Mania
In Crypto-Mania you decode cryptographs (word puzzles)
and you create cryptographs from messages you enter.
o Roadrunner Rescue
In Roadrunner Rescue, an arcade-style game, you rescue
roadrunners and evade robots as you help Freddy climb up
25 levels of cliffs. This product has a total of 100
challenging screens.
o Wordseeking
Wordseeking displays user-entered words forward, back-
ward, vertically, horizontally, diagonally, and in com-
binations of these, in a grid that contains extraneous
letters. The object is to locate your own words in the
grid.
o Zuran
In the action-packed game Zuran you rescue survivors of
damaged Zuran spaceships while you evade Eclon fighters
and destroy Eclon space stations.
o Blackjack
Blackjack is an automated version of the popular card
game. It pits your skill and luck against the computer,
and lets you learn strategy as you play.

o Starproof Bridge
Starproof Bridge is used in conjunction with IBM Word
Proof to check spelling of text files you created with
Wordstar.
o File Facility
File Facility extends the power of the DOS PATH command
so you can read from or write to files in any drive or
directory.
o DOS File Tracker
DOS File Tracker organizes your files and diskettes. It
reads diskette file directories in your library and then
catalogs all files on a separate diskette. All or part
of the catalog can be displayed or printed. This product
also calculates diskette space so that file assignments
can be made efficiently and easily.
o Utilities I
Utilities I consists of:
- File Compress and Expand: This program compresses
files on disk or diskette to conserve space.You can
compress original files or compress files while mak-
ing backups.
- DOS Command Retriever: With this utility you can
retrieve and re-enter commands easily. You also can
edit them and define abbreviations for commands.
o Utilities II
Utlities II consists of:
- Backup and Unmark:This program lets you selectively
back up your files based on changes you have made
since the previous backup.It also lets you reset
file markers to indicate no backup is required.
- DOS Tree Display: A utility to expand the TREE com-
mand to display all tree structures.
- File Locater: With this utility you can locate and
display files by dates of entry, paths and
sizes. Also, you can pipe into other programs.
o Select-a-Font
Select-a-Font lets you select nine different fonts for
use when printing on the IBM Graphics Printer.
o Phone Directory On-Line
o Print Buffer On-Line
o Phone Directory and Print Buffer On-Line
The Phone Directory On-Line program provides an easy way
to create, update, display and print your phone directo-
ry.This program remains active while other programs are
running. It includes an alarm feature, automatic dial
feature and an interface to a print manager.
Print Buffer On-Line is a print spooling program that
enables you to print information while running other
programs.
These two programs are available in a single package
titled Phone Directory and Print Buffer On-Line at a
substantially reduced price.
o SciCalc
SciCalc (short for Scientific Calculator) is a program
that simulates a calculator.It can be used for problems
as simple as balancing a checkbook, or for solving prob-
lems involving complex numbers, trigonometric functions,
and coordinate conversions.
o Personal Computer Picture Graphics
With the Personal Computer Picture Graphics program, a
user can create and/or alter the contents of a graphics
library.
o PC Palette
With PC Palette, a graphics program, you can create
drawings, plot charts and create such special effects as
simple animation and three-dimensional rotation. PC Pal-
ette supports joysticks, mice, touch tablets and graph-
ics tablets.
o STATLIB 1
STATLIB 1 performs statistical analysis and linear pro-
gramming.It includes descriptive statistics, hypothesis
testing, confidence intervals, analysis of variance,
linear and non-linear regression, quality control, and
reliability.STATLIB 1 incorporates numerical integration
of the normal, T, F and Chi-Square distributions, elimi-
nating the need for table lookup.It also has financial
analysis routines.
o STATLIB 2
STATLIB 2 performs less common statistical analyses such
as random number generation, multivariate statistics,
time series analysis and non-parametric statistics.

o Executive Phone Directory
Executive Phone Directory has advanced directory assist-
ance and list manipulation, providing a fast retrieval
of phone numbers.You can construct lists of names in a
wide range of formats and selections. With the appro-
priate hardware, telephone numbers can be automatically
dialed.
o Executive Phone Directory with Message Feature
This product includes all features of the Executive
Phone Directory plus a phone message facility that uses
the IBM Personal Computer Cluster Adapter and Cluster
Program.The message facility features telephone message
creation, transmission and retrieval.
o Executive Phone Directory Build-Your-Own
This program develops large phone directories for use
with Executive Phone Directory or Executive Phone Direc-
tory with Message Feature. This program can extract and
format a phone directory of up to 8000 entries from a
wide variety of external data files, and organize the
directory for fast access.
o Portfolio Management System
Portfolio Management System is a securities pricing and
portfolio management program.With it you can update
portfolios automatically using the Dow Jones
News/Retrieval Service.
o Project Planning and Scheduling
After you enter details about a project, Project Plan-
ning and Scheduling performs the bookkeeping,
scheduling, sorting and charting, generates reports, and
performs a time/cost analysis.
The software listed in The Directory is sent to IBM through
the Software Submission Plan. If a submitted programs is
