  268. Ca.  June 6th 2000 -- Tao Group today announced that its multimedia system
  269. for enhancing Java<font size=-1><sup><span
  270. class="trademark">TM</span></sup></font> technology based applications,
  271. the int<span class="intent"><b>e</b></span>nt, Java Technology Edition,
  272. has been awarded Sun Authorized Virtual Machine status by passing Sun's
  273. comprehensive PersonalJava<font size=-1><sup><span
  274. class="trademark">TM</span></sup></font> test suites.</p>
  275.  
  276. <p>Over several years int<span class="intent"><b>e</b></span>nt has been
  277. developed by Tao's engineering team for use in connected devices in home
  278. and mobile networks. The emphasis has been on creating an open,
  279. comprehensive, customizable, compact, fast and binary portable multimedia
  280. solution incorporating advanced capability in streaming audio and
  281. video. At its heart is Tao's Sun Authorized Virtual Machine and
  282. libraries. Today, the software is being deployed in a broad range of
  283. markets including digital games, home networking, digital television,
  284. automotive and phones.</p>

  323. class="intent"><b>Motorola</b></span> noted "Java technology is fast
  324. becoming a requirement in the imaging and entertainment world. However,
  325. size and power limitations have often limited the experience of using Java
  326. software in consumer products. Tao's fully compliant, accelerated Java
  327. engine will help us break through this limitation and opens up a whole
  328. range of new opportunities for networked Java devices."</p>
