  54. The year is 2140. After numerous wars and several environmental 
  55. disasters, only two world powers remain; the United Civilized States 
  56. (UCS) covering the American continent, Western Europe and North 
  57. Africa, and the Eurasian Dynasty (ED)covering the coherent landmasses 
  58. of Eastern Europe and Asia. The damage caused by the long wars led 
  59. both world powers to evacuate the population to recently built 
  60. underground cities.   Australia and most parts of Africa were 
  61. sacrificed during the long wars, which lasted several decades. Highly 
  62. toxic biological and chemical weapons were developed on these 
  63. continents, leaving them so badly contaminated, that no human life 
  64. can survive there. Not even the use of robots and machines is 
  65. possible. The general opinion was that these continents would forever 
  66. remain uninhabitable, and they were wiped from every map. Most of the 
  67. world's population forgot that this land ever existed.
  68. <p>
  69. The UCS system is one of stochastocracy (coincidental rule). The 
  70. population enjoys a lazy and decadent life. They live for their own 
  71. enjoyment and let machines (so-called "Black-Tech"-robots) do all the 
  72. necessary work. The population has no interest in politics, leaving 
  73. the rulers to be chosen randomly using computers. The Eurasians are 
  74. governed by the dictatorial Khan Dynasty. These days Tiao Zhan Zhe 
  75. Khan (his name means Provocator of War) rules the ED.
  76. <p>
  77. Due to the environmental problems caused by the wars and the 
  78. contamination of most parts of his country, the 34th Khan Yong Shi 
  79. Khan (Brave Warrior) ordered the development of a technology to 
  80. replace parts of the human body with mechanical parts, a way of 
  81. reducing the population. Now, in the reign of the 37th Khan, these 
  82. goals have been achieved. The population has been transformed into 
  83. ascetic and extremely powerful androids. The "human" body now 
  84. consists of rudimental organisms which support the brain and 
  85. numerous mechanical components, which have been developed for 
  86. specific android tasks. Population growth is controlled by using 
  87. cerebral transfer to create new androids. An android's brain cells 
  88. are used to clone a new body and the mechanical parts are built 
  89. around it.
  90. <p>
  91. Natural resources are becoming scarce and have to be extracted above 
  92. ground. There have been a number of small conflicts between the UCS 
  93. and the ED, the last of which escalated and became a fierce and 
  94. bitter war - the final world war. Only one side can win. This final 
  95. war will decide who will get the last of the available natural 
  96. resources and ultimately rule the world.
