I was born in Ithaca, New York, on November 1'st, 1963, and I lived there until I was 17 years old. When I was 12, I was introduced to a physicist who allowed children to use two computers that were on loan from NCR corporation.
I and several other kids learned how to write games on these machines. I was very sure, however, that I would not make my living programming computers. Little did I know...
When I was 14 years old, a company named Ithaca InterSystems hired me as an apprentice. After working there, I was hired by a company called WolfData at age 15 or 16 to write a 'Teach Yourself Materials Requirements Planning' program.
From there I went to work for Cornell University writing a database program. At age 17, I quit public school and took a high school equivalency exam, and went to college at The University of Arizona, in Tucson, Arizona.
I finally obtained my degree in Liberal Arts from The University of the State of New York (a government-run mail-order degree college).
I then spent 3 weeks in the US Air Force at Officer Training School. After deciding that I was just not cut out for the military, it was clear that starting a business was the next step.
I returned to Buffalo, New York where I taught Math and Computers at a 2 year business school. During that time, I wrote Moraff's Revenge, now considered a classic role-playing game.
I then moved to Washington, DC, where I worked for the Islamic Saudi Academy, a school that was set up by the King of Saudi Arabia for the children of diplomats in the US.
I also managed a computer store, and worked as a computer salesman.
After a year in Washington, DC, I chose to move to Austin, Texas, to set up MoraffWare. I have been here in Austin for six years, now, writing games, filling orders, and getting involved in politics.
I almost ran for US Congress as a long-shot reform candidate, but the Democratic Party had already chosen the next Representative, a well-funded lawyer and State Supreme Court Justice.
I probably will run again, but only after more of you register MoraffWare products, so that I have a chance in the field of big-money politics.
I appreciate your interest in my story, and hope you enjoy Moraff's WorldNet.|
