PovRay V2.0
Picasso II Support
Eric G. Suchanek
11/10/93
I have added direct Picasso II 24 bit display capability to the famous POVRay
ray-tracing program version 2.0. In order to utilize this feature simply
supply the parameter 'P' to the display flag like this:
povray040 +dP ...
Included in this archive are:
povray040 - 68040 specific version
povray030 - 68030 specific version
povrayieee - generic 68000 version
Caveats:
1) The smallest display used is 640x480. This has been done to
minimize the pixel 'chunkiness' on a display like 320x240.
You may render small images, but the screen opened will be
minimally 640x480.
2) If you have 2MB you can use a display size of up to 800x600.
Don't try this if you don't have 2MB on your Picasso II. It won't
work.
3) If you don't have the complete POVRay Version 2.0 implementation
you'll need it. Version 2 has many enhancements over version 1.0.
Many new textures and language features are present. It's worth
the download.
4) You'll also need vilintuisup.library version 2.0 or higher. This
is available from Expert Services.
5) As is now common practive with SAS/C, I have disabled the checkabort
function. This means you can't break out of the program with CTRL-C.
This has been done to eliminate the effect of breaking the program
without closing any open display windows.
Note:
The program now allocates a stack of 128000 bytes. This means that
you should no longer need to launch the program from a shell with a
huge stack. If you're rendering a particularly complex scene you
might run out of stack space and crash (I haven't had this happen
yet). If this happens, increase the stack space beyond 128000 from
your shell.
