  12. DESCRIPTION
  13.      wrjpgcom reads the named JPEG/JFIF  file,  or  the  standard
  14.      input  if  no  file  is named, and generates a new JPEG/JFIF
  15.      file on standard output.  A comment block is  added  to  the
  16.      file.

  18.      The JPEG standard allows "comment"  (COM)  blocks  to  occur
  19.      within  a JPEG file.  Although the standard doesn't actually
  20.      define what COM blocks are for, they are widely used to hold
  21.      user-supplied  text strings.  This lets you add annotations,
  22.      titles, index terms, etc  to  your  JPEG  files,  and  later
  23.      retrieve them as text.  COM blocks do not interfere with the
  24.      image stored in the JPEG file.  The maximum size  of  a  COM
  25.      block  is  64K, but you can have as many of them as you like
  26.      in one JPEG file.

  28.      wrjpgcom adds a COM block, containing text you provide, to a
  29.      JPEG  file.   Ordinarily,  the  COM block is added after any
  30.      existing COM blocks; but you can delete the old  COM  blocks
  31.      if you wish.

  33. OPTIONS
  34.      Switch names may be abbreviated, and are not case sensitive.

  37.           Delete any existing COM blocks from the file.

  39.      -comment _t_e_x_t
  40.           Supply text for new COM block on command line.

  42.      -cfile _n_a_m_e
  43.           Read text for new COM block from named file.

  45.      If you have only one line of comment text to  add,  you  can
  46.      provide  it  on the command line with -comment.  The comment
  47.      text must be surrounded with quotes so that it is treated as
  48.      a  single argument.  Longer comments can be read from a text
  49.      file.

  51.      If you give neither -comment nor -cfile, then wrjpgcom  will
  52.      read the comment text from standard input.  (In this case an
  53.      input image file name MUST be supplied, so that  the  source
  54.      JPEG  file comes from somewhere else.)  You can enter multi-
  55.      ple lines, up to 64KB worth.  Type an end-of-file  indicator
  56.      (usually control-D) to terminate the comment text entry.

  58.      wrjpgcom will not add a COM block if  the  provided  comment
  59.      string is empty.  Therefore -replace -comment "" can be used
  60.      to delete all COM blocks from a file.
