DESKMORF alters the appearance of the GEM windows, icons and dialog box
buttons to give them a "3-D" look. Any program that uses these objects will
display them in "3-D" as well. Instead of inverting the color when a button
is selected, DESKMORF depresses it, and then releases it when it's
deselected. All the window elements and buttons are displayed in
individually selectable colors ( on a color monitor ), or patterns ( on
a mono monitor ) and can be changed using DESKMORF.ACC. These changes can
then be saved to memory and disk. Separate color and palette settings can
be saved for each resolution and may be turned on or off selectively.
A 10 minute time limit has been placed on the demo version, so don't
be alarmed when things start returning to their old appearance. There is
also an extended ( about 30 seconds ) sign-on message at the beginning of
the demo to generally annoy you and also to tell you how to order DESKMORF,
so please be patient.
DESKMORF.PRG will not work in resolutions in which more than 16 colors
are displayed on the screen at the same time. You'll just get the normal
desktop.
You may freely distribute these demo programs as long as all the files
stay together. That means DESKMORF.PRG, DESKMORF.ACC and DESKMORF.DOC. I
retain all rights to them and they may not be altered in any way.
------------------------------------------------------------------
DESKMORF.PRG
------------
The first thing you should do is create a folder called "AUTO" if it
doesn't already exist in the root directory of your boot disk, and put
DESKMORF.PRG ( not DESKMORF.ACC ) into it. Then reboot the computer and
DESKMORF will take over the drawing of GEM windows, etc. It will not alter
windows and icons, however, in programs that don't use the standard window
structures or icon images. Exit buttons in dialog boxes will be displayed
in "3-D". Default exit buttons will be one pixel bigger, all the way
around, than other exit buttons and can be displayed in a different color.
To make room for the text on exit buttons, it was necessary to change the
size of each button in memory. Therefore, in the demo, the buttons that had
been "3-D" will appear larger than normal after time has expired.
On color monitors, the normally black and white desktop icons ( Trash,
Floppy Disk, etc. ) will be drawn in color. Unfortunately, at this time,
the icon colors are unchangeable. Icons on mono monitors are unchanged.
DESKMORF.ACC
------------
This program should be placed in the root directory of your boot disk,
but not in the AUTO folder. With this accessory, you can alter the color or
pattern of the window elements and exit buttons. Just select a color from
the palette box and click on the object you to want change. You can "click
and drag" to make a number of objects the same color or pattern
simultaneously.
To change the colors of the actual objects, click on the "Morf" button.
If you want to save these changes, select the "Save Controls" button and
the new settings will be saved to DESKMORF.PRG in your AUTO folder, to be
used the next time you boot. The settings for each resolution can be saved
this way.
You can save the palette for each resolution by first setting the
palette colors with a program like CONTROL.ACC, then selecting DESKMORF.ACC
and clicking on "Save Palette". The palette switches "On/Off" are used to
determine whether or not the palette you saved for each individual
resolution will be used. The advantage of this is that if you use a desktop
background picture in a particular resolution, the saved palette for that
resolution can be turned off and the picture's palette will be used instead.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
If you decide, after using the demo, that you would like to buy
DESKMORF, I will send it to you along with SPLASH ( a program to display
Degas and Prism Paint pictures on your desktop ) and EZDESK ( a program
that allows you to create desktop patterns and display them ). All for only
$10.
Please send a check or money order for $10.00 to:
