Sums is designed to enable the user to make sums to use in worksheets or other documents without difficulty and in the correct format. It will produce a Draw file with the sum displayed correctly aligned over the units column and with appropriate signs. Sums will produce addition, subtraction, multiplication and long-division sums, square and higher roots, and fractions, all correctly formatted - no more having to run Formulix just to create an addition sum or fraction. Any of the values may be left blank for the children to fill in later, and each part may contain a mixture of letters, numbers and other characters (although some odd, narrow characters may mess up the formatting).
How does Sums work?

Once installed on the icon bar, click on the icon and Sums will open its addition window, or select the desired function from the iconbar menu. Enter the desired values (up to 23 characters in each icon). Press Save and drag the save box to a Filer window or directly into a frame (this works for Publisher, but I can't be sure of other programmes - let me know!). The Draw file can now be incorporated into a document in the normal way. If you want to check the sum before saving it, press Preview and the sum will be displayed at actual size in a window. The sum is produced using 12-point Homerton by default. To change this, toggle the window to full size and you will see the font and size menus. Currently, the options are Homerton or Trinity, both in normal, italic or bold weight. Sizes range from 8 pt to 24 pt, although you can, of course, just scale the Draw file to whatever size you like.
