  1. Version 1.0 of CFXRDS is a Shareware product. It may be distributed and
  2. used free of charge. The Shareware version will create RDS images with a
  3. randomly generated random field with a left to right generation algorithm.

  5. It will use any 256 color PCX image as the height map. Unlike some generation
  6. programs, CFXRDS does not modify or scale the input height map file. This
  7. allows the user to create a height map that will not be changed or distorted
  8. when the RDS image is created. Color 0 is the background (farthest away) and
  9. as the color number used increases so does the depth away from the background.
  10. Because no scaling is used, using numbered colors that excede the width of
  11. the random field will cause strange effects. As long as you don't create
  12. height maps with outrageous depths you should have no problems. The advantage
  13. to this non-scaling method is that the image you create will be exactly the
  14. same as the RDS output. Meaning that each distinct height you create will
  15. remain distinct in the final RDS image. Other programs that scale can cause
  16. depths to become greater than you created or even cause different depths to
  17. decome the same.

  19. Using CFXRDS is very simply:

  21. type CFXRDS <enter>
  22. enter the name of the Height Map file with a '.PCX' extension
  23. enter the width of the Random Field (something around 100 works well)
  24. enter the Output File name with a '.PCX' extension
  25.  
  26. The program will now create an RDS image from your Height Map.

  28. If you register for the full version of CFXRDS you will receive version 2.0
  29. which contains many advanced features.

  31. -left to right algorithm
  32. -center generation algorithm (starts in center and works out)
  33. -full Random Field support
  34.    -allows any user created Random Field to be used to create the RDS image
  35. -Phantom Image correction
  36.    -fixes some of the unwanted trace images left during creation
  37.  
  38. And other new features that are constantly being added.

  41. Shareware version. All the samples as well as the software are all
