  14. This is the text file version of DOOMUK, which may be found in the
  15. 'Action Game Aids' section of the Gamers' forum, 'Action/Arcade' section of the 
  16. Modem Games forum (Library 10), the 'General' section of the UK Computing 
  17. and UK Communications forums. Supplementary messages will also be posted in 
  18. the Gamers' and Modem Games forums containing additional information. DOOMUK 
  19. will be updated every week and if members permit it I will also print 
  20. telephone numbers, availability times and some sort of a score table.

  23. have the most recent registered version of Doom V1.2

  223. Thanks to Dave Coathupe for providing the precise geographic locations of
  224. all the people on the list and for suggesting that matches should be recorded. 
  225. Thanks also to Frank Bartolotta who very swiftly organised just about 
  226. everything including a draft of the tournament rules.

  228. Modem setup utilities for Doom:
  229. DMSER.ZIP - works brilliantly (change settings including levels on the fly),
  230. supports speeds up to 57600bps with compression. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
  231. DMINIT11.ZIP - straightforward replacement of Doom's SERSETUP interface.
  232. DBMNU.ZIP - another sersetup replacement that's easy to use.
  233. DMCOMMS.ZIP - same as DBMNU I think.
  234. DCC10.ZIP - very very useful utility that replaces setup and permits modem 
  235. play on custom levels, warping to any episode and level, compatible with
  236. new high speed communication utils.
  237. DOOMIT.ZIP - Official UK Doom tournament utility. You'll probably need this
  238. to take part in the tourney.

  241. NEWS:
  242. The official Doom tournament will be hosted by the Modem Games forum in 
  243. the Action/Arcade section (Library 10). To register, contestants must post
  244. a public message to the Tournament Administrators Turk (76711,32)
  245. or Nik (100334,206). This MUST be done by the end of July (around 30th).
  246. You will find Doomit.zip and the tourney rules in the above forum.

  248. I'm still desperately trying to arrange some kind of a sponsorship deal
  249. with PC Zone mag, but I cannot promise anything. What I can guarantee is that
  250. there will definitely be a prize, probably donated by the Modem Games forum.
