Police Quest 4: Open Season
*** 1: The murder scene ***
1. Talk to everyone at the murder scene.
2. Click the eye icon on the slain police officer's body.
3. In the close-up view, click your notebook on the body and the
cigarette lying on the ground.
4. Exit the close-up view of the body and click your notebook on the
graffiti on the wall of the convenience store.
5. Use your car keys to unlock your car's trunk.
6. Take the homicide kit.
7. Click the eye icon on the body of Bob Hickman.
8. Click the chalk from the homicide kit on the cigarette and the
body.
9. Exit the close-up view.
10. Open the dumpster and click your notebook on the body inside.
11. Speak with Nobles about the body.
*** 2: Monday ***
1. Speak to Hal Bottoms.
2. Look at your desk.
3. Click the hand icon on the memo in your In-basket.
4. Take the photograph from the left hand drawer.
5. Pick up a 3.14 Follow Up form from the right hand drawer.
6. Click your notebook on the 3.14 Form in your inventory.
7. Still in the inventory, click the eye icon on the photograph.
8. Memorize the password written on the photograph.
9. Give the 3.14 Form and the crime scene report to Hal.
10. Click the hand icon on the computer in the back of the office.
11. The ID number is the same as your badge number, 612, and the
password is "gunner".
12. Choose, "Gang Information" and then "Rude Boys Get Bail" from the
computer screen.
13. When you are finished reading about the gang, click on CANCEL and
then LOGOUT.
14. Exit the office and take the elevator to the first floor.
15. To get past the pushy reporter in front of Parker Center, click
the hand icon on the reporter.
16. At the L.A. County Morgue, show Sherry your badge.
17. Talk to Russ, the Coroner's assistant.
18. Talk to Sam Nobles, the Coroner.
19. Click your notebook on Bob Hickman's body.
20. Before exiting, take the personal belongings of Bob Hickman and
Bobby Washington from the counter in the room where you talked to
Russ.
21. Return the personal items to the grieving families.
22. At Bob Hickman's house, knock on the door.
23. Talk to Valerie.
24. Inside, give Katherine Bob Hickman's personal belongings.
25. Talk to Katherine about Bob's drug and alcohol problem.
26. When she leaves the room, talk to Valerie again until she
mentions the closet.
27. Open the closet door and take the bottle of pills from the denim
jacket.
28. To practice at the L.A. Police Academy target range, take the
buff colored 13.5.1 form from the counter at the L.A. Police Academy
Target Range.
29. Give Bert the form.
30. Take the wallet from inventory and click it on Bert.
31. Pick up the box of ammo that Bert places on the counter.
32. Pick up the head gear.
33. Exit this screen to the right.
34. In the firing range screen, walk forward.
35. Take the head gear from inventory and click it on John Carey.
36. When your gun is set to low ready, wait for a target to appear,
then quickly aim and fire.
37. When it is time to reload, open your inventory and click the ammo
on your gun.
38. When you are finished, drop the head gear off at the front
counter.
39. In South Central L.A, when at the scene of the previous night's
murder, exit the screen to the left.
40. Go inside the store and take an apple from the counter and some
glue from the display rack on the right. Click your wallet on the
proprietor to pay.
41. Outside, walk two screens to the left.
42. Show your badge to the kid who is standing up.
43. Talk to him until he repeats himself.
44. Click the hand icon on the door of the burned out building.
45. Inside, click the hand icon on the bullet holes in the cinder
block wall.
46. Use the putty knife from the homicide kit to loosen the slugs in
all 16 bullet holes.
47. Click the plastic bags from the homicide kit on each bullet hole.
48. Exit the close-up view of the wall.
49. Leave this screen by exiting to the left.
50. You should now be back at the scene of the previous night's
murder.
51. Exit this screen to the right.
52. Show your badge to the little girl. Question her.
53. Give her the apple you bought at the convenience store.
54. Leave this screen to the right.
55. Show Mrs. Washington your badge.
56. Give her Bobby's personal possessions. Question her.
57. If the guard won't let you back into Parker Center, take the
Parker Center ID from inventory and click it on John Carey.
58. Back at Parker Center, take the elevator to the basement level by
pressing the "B" button.
59. Go to the end of the hall and give Julie Chester the glue from
the Lucky Mart store and the pills from Bob Hickman's closet.
60. Take the elevator to the fourth floor.
61. Proceed to the end of the hall and speak to Teddy.
62. Give him the bullets from the burned out building.
63. Explain to him they are for "Shelf Storage".
64. Take the elevator to the third floor.
65. Return to your office.
66. When the phone rings, answer it by clicking the hand icon first
on your desk and then on the phone. Exit your office and go to the
first floor. Save your game.
67. If you keep getting killed in South Central, crouch down beside
your car by clicking the walk icon next
68. to the rear door.
69. Click the Kevlar vest that Katherine Hickman gave you on John
Carey.
70. Click the walk icon near the trunk of the car twice.
71. Take the car keys from inventory and click them on the trunk.
72. When the trunk is open, click the keys on the shotgun.
73. Click the hand icon on the shotgun to pick it up.
74. Exit the view of the trunk.
75. To shoot the bad guys, with the shotgun out from the car's trunk,
open your inventory and select the shotgun.
76. Click it on the burned out building.
77. Aim the shotgun and click to fire.
78. If you use all the shells, you have one chance to reload.
79. You can reload by opening your inventory and clicking the shells
on the shotgun.
80. If you run out of shells, you can still load and use your
Baretta.
*** 3: Tuesday ***
1. At your office in Parker Center, talk to Lieutenant Block, talk to
Hal Bottoms.
2. Go to your desk.
3. Get a 3.14 form from the right-hand drawer and click your notebook
on it in inventory.
4. Take the elevator to the "B" level and pick up your gun from SIDS.
5. Question Julie Chester.
6. At Yo Money's house, click your notebook on the body outline on
the lawn.
7. Go towards the house.
8. Inspect the bushes in front Yo Money's front door and find a red
shoe. Take it.
9. Knock on the front door and show your badge to the bodyguard. Talk
to him.
10. Inside, show the shoe to his Yo Money's girlfriend.
11. Talk to Yo Money about his enemies.
12. At the L.A. County Morgue, talk to Sam Nobles about the body of
the slain officer, Rene Garcia.
13. When you return to the Parker Center, wear your Parker Center ID.
14. Give the completed 3.14 form to Hal.
15. Click the hand icon on the computer in the rear of the office.
16. Enter serial number 612 and the password GUNNER.
17. Select HATE CRIMES from the main menu.
18. Type in the name that Yo Money mentioned: Walker.
19. Click on CANCEL. Click on LOGOUT.
20. In South Central, proceed to Mrs. Washington's house and question
LaSondra about the lady she saw.
21. At Dennis Walker's house, knock on the door and when Dennis
Walker answers, show him your badge. Click the talk icon on him.
22. Inside Dennis Walker's apartment, talk to him again. Save your
game before you touch his radio.
23. If you keep getting stabbed by Dennis Walker's girlfriend, save
your game. You must act quickly.
24. Take the gun from your inventory and click it on Dennis Walker's
girlfriend.
25. Select the talk icon and click it on her twice, once to make her
freeze, and once to drop the weapon. Once she is kneeling with her
hands on her head, immediately take the handcuffs from inventory and
click them on her.
26. After arresting Walker's girlfriend, go to the Parker Center.
27. Talk to Mrs. Garcia.
28. Click the hand icon on your desk.
29. Get the memo from your in-box.
30. In your inventory, click the eye icon on the memo to read it.
31. Proceed to the Hickman's house and talk to Katherine.
32. After you leave the Hickman's house you will automatically go to
the Short Stop bar.
33. At the Short Stop bar, enter selection: h.
34. Take some pretzels from the bowl on the table.
35. Talk to Sam and Julie.
*** 4: Wednesday ***
1. To avoid getting killed at City Hall, save your game.
2. Walk to the front.
3. Respond to the questions.
4. When Dennis Walker starts to attack you, quickly take the gun from
your inventory and click it on him. Click the talk icon on Dennis
Walker first to make him freeze and second to make him drop his
weapon. When Dennis Walker is kneeling with his hands on his head,
immediately take the handcuffs from your inventory and click them on
him.
5. At the Parker Center, talk to Hal Bottoms.
6. Take a 3.14 form from your desk and click the notebook on it.
7. Give the 3.14 form to Hal.
8. To qualify at the L.A. Police Academy, get a green form from the
counter at the target range.
9. Give it to the officer who works there.
10. Pick up the box of ammo and the head gear.
11. Exit the screen to the right.
12. In the firing range screen, walk forward.
13. Take the head gear from inventory and click it on John Carey.
14. When you are ready to qualify, take the gun from inventory and
click it on the view of the firing range. When your gun is set to low
ready, wait for a target to appear.
15. Quickly aim and fire at the targets.
16. When it's time to reload, open your inventory and click the ammo
on your gun.
17. When you are finished give the head gear to Bert on the way out.
18. At the L.A. County Morgue, visit Sam and question him.
19. At the Impound Lot, display your badge at the window to get the
code for the day.
20. Speak to the yardman to give him the code and question him about
the patrol car.
21. Click the hand icon on the patrol car.
22. Get the newspaper clipping from the car seat.
23. To read the newspaper clipping, click the eye icon on.
24. At Griffith Park, give the dog the pretzels you took from the
Short Stop bar.
25. Once the dog leaves Griffith Park, go to the tree with the yellow
police banner around it.
26. In the close-up view, click the hand icon on the disturbed dirt.
27. Get the plastic bags from the homicide kit in inventory and click
them on the revealed bone.
28. Once you have the bone, ask Sam about the bodies in the car.
29. Give him the bone you unearthed at Griffith Park.
30. At Hollywood and Vine, question the man in front of Ragin'
Records and the Bitty Kitty Club.
31. Go into the Bitty Kitty Club.
32. Should the club not be open yet, look at the newspaper clipping
from the patrol car at the impound lot.
33. Inside the Bitty Kitty, display your badge to Electra and
question her.
34. Show her the shoe you found at Yo Money's house.
35. Ask her about Barbie.
36. With the lighter that is on the bar, light her cigarette.
37. Exit the Bitty Kitty, and take the mirror that is laying on the
street next to your car.
38. Go into Ragin' Records and question the proprietor.
39. Return to the Bitty Kitty, show your badge to Barbie and question
her.
40. Show her the shoe.
41. Proceed to the L.A. County Morgue and the day will end if you
have done everything.
*** 5: Thursday ***
1. At the L.A. County Morgue, ask Sam about the Skeletal Remains and
John and Jane Doe.
2. At Parker Center, proceed to SIDS and question Julie Chester.
3. Fill out a 3.14 form and give it to Hal.
4. Click on the door at the back of the office to talk to Lieutenant
Block.
5. At the Impound Lot, click your badge on the Impound Lot window.
6. Go into the lot through the gate on the right.
7. Speak to the yardman to give him the code word and then again to
question him about the car.
8. Look at the car license plate and write down the number: E2BSY669.
9. At your office at Parker Center, log in to the computer and choose
DMV.
10. Enter the license plate number E2BSY669.
11. Select CANCEL and then LOGOUT to exit the computer.
12. At the Social Services office, show your badge to Nora.
13. Question her.
14. Click the eye icon on the desk in Luella Parker's office.
15. Take both the case files and the audio tape.
16. Exit Luella's office and question Nora again.
17. In inventory, click the eye icon on the case files and note the
names.
18. At Hollywood and Vine, go into Ragin' Records and hand the audio
tape over to the proprietor.
19. Click the eye icon on the counter.
20. Click the hand icon on a drumstick.
21. Get the drumstick from the counter.
22. Exit the record store and go to the Bitty Kitty Club.
23. Question Barbie Cann about Luella Parker.
24. At the 3rd Eye Theater, click the hand icon on the ticket booth.
25. Show your badge to the man in the booth and speak to him.
26. Click the hand icon on the theater doors on the left to enter the
theater lobby.
27. Ask Mitchell Thurman about Luella Parker.
28. Drink the tea he offers you.
29. Go into the movie theater by clicking the hand icon on the doors
to the right of the concession stand.
30. Exit the theater and go to South Central after the dream
sequence.
31. In South Central go into the burned out building and get the
piece of rope from the boxes.
32. To manage the dog at Griffith Park click the rope you got from
the burned out building on the dog.
*** 6: The Alley and End Game ***
1. Should you find yourself stuck in an alley, click the hand icon on
the homicide kit.
2. Take the pry bar and click it on the double doors to the left.
3. Should you find yourself stuck in a dark room, take the flashlight
from the homicide kit and click it on the screen.
4. Move the flashlight beam around until you find a wooden door.
5. To inspect a different wall, move the flashlight beam near the
edge of the screen.
6. Remove the putty knife from the homicide kit and click it on the
wooden door.
7. Click the hand icon on the door to open it.
8. To keep the dog from attacking you click the glue on the
drumstick.
9. Click the mirror from your car on the drumstick to create a
makeshift periscope.
10. Click this device on the crack in the door at the top of the
stairs.
11. When you see a "coast is clear" message, click the hand icon on
the door and go into the kitchen.
12. Open the refrigerator.
13. To get by the dog blocking the hallway, give the dog the bottle
of sedatives you got from Bob Hickman's closet.
14. Should you find yourself in the room at the end of the hall, open
the closet.
15. Click the hand icon on the rug in the closet.
16. Click the hand icon on the secret trap door.
17. Leave towards the rear of the storage room at the bottom of the
ladder.
18. Take note of the woman in the theater seats.
19. Exit to the theater lobby at the top of the screen.
20. In the theater lobby, there are three soft drink cans on the
display case, get the one on the right.
21. In inventory, click the hand icon on the can to reveal a skeleton
key.
22. Go back to the movie theater and click the skeleton key on the
door to the right of the movie screen. Use the flashlight from the
homicide kit.
23. To get around the dog that won't let you get up from the living
room floor, take the ball and throw it out the window.
24. To defeat the psycho, take the can of hair spray from the
medicine cabinet in the bathroom.
25. Go back to the refrigerator and take the cigarette lighter from
the corpse's mouth.
26. Save your game.
27. Click the lighter on the hair spray to make a torch before you
enter the room at the end of the hall.
28. Enter the room at the end of the hall and click the torch on the
murderer.
