- Quest for Glory IV

- 1. Take the torch to the right of the Bone Altar.
- 2. Look through the remains of the skeleton and take the objects.
- 3. Go into your inventory and use the items to light the torch.
- 4. In the Heart of the Cave take the objects and leave toward the
- bottom of the screen if you are not a fighter.
- 5. The Fighter and the Thief have no problem crossing the Pit Cave if
- they are deft enough using the rope. Have the Magic User use an item
- from the Heart of the Cave to cast the spell that makes you
- weightless.
- 6. Once you leave the cave, head west to the swamp.
- 7. Head north as much as you can.
- 8. Head east as much as you can.
- 9. Head north to the town gate.
- 10. After sundown the gates are closed so you must levitate of climb
- over.
- 11. You can safely sleep at either the Inn or in the town square on
- the grass beneath the Staff.
- 12. To get a room go into the Inn, and speak with the Innkeeper about
- the hotel and a room.
- 13. If you want something to eat, sit on the chair on the right side
- of the right table.
- 14. Speak with the people at the Inn.
- 15. Head downstairs at night when you hear a noise, and listen at the
- Innkeeper's doorway.
- 16. Explore the town for the next few days and also the areas
- surrounding it.
- 17. Gather experience.
- 18. Go see Dr. Cranium and should you be a Magic User, ask him about
- Magic.
- 19. Speak with everyone in Mordavia.
- 20. Should you be a Paladin, head to the town square staff at night
- and contact another Paladin.
- 21. Speak with the Burgomeister and get the key to the Adventurer's
- Guild.
- 22. Go to his office when the Gypsy is caught.
- 23. At the Shop you can purchase rations, garlic, candy, and a pie
- pan.
- 24. Get the Thief a shopping bag and the Paladin a broom.
- 25. To aid the Old Man in finding his wife, look in the forest at
- night for the Lost Ghost.
- 26. Convince her that she really is a ghost over several visits.
- 27. When she recalls her name, return to town and tell the old man
- about her.
- 28. Come back later and get the old man's hat.
- 29. To reunite Olga and her husband simply keep talking to both of
- them and telling them what the other says.
- 30. Dine at the inn on the third evening to meet the Gnome.
- 31. Watch his act.
- 32. Go upstairs to the last door at the end of the hall.
- 33. Ask the Gnome about humor.
- 34. Borrow the Rubber Chicken and return to him many times to learn
- of Baba Yaga.

- *** Guilds ***
-
- 1. If you are a Fighter, read at the Guild and use the exercise
- machine. Also practice climbing and take the rope. You can also find
- swords here.
- 2. If you are a Thief use the rope and Grapnel. Look under the table
- and solve the coat hooks puzzle to open up the secret passage leading
- to the Thieves' Guild.
- 3. At the Thieves' Guild open the latch with a credit card
- 4. Break into the back room and head to the library.
- 5. To open the safe, search the grate for the knob and the
- combination is on the safe.
- 6. To open the Chief Thief's desk, use a lockpick and your knowledge
- of disarming traps.
- 7. When you break into the desk, read the Chief Thief's logbook
- thoroughly.
- 8. To find The Chief Thief go to the barrels in the back.
- 9. The solution to the secret passage's lock is in the logbook.
- 10. The cure for the Chief Thief is in the Monastery's secret
- basement.

- *** Dr. Cranium ***
-
- 1. To get into Dr. Cranium's house, use the bells you see and hear
- the same number of times, in the same
- 2. order.
- 3. To get to the key to Cranium's inner door, you have to guide an
- Antwerp through the key maze.
- 4. To get the Antwerp you have to figure what the critters behind the
- right door eat using the Animal Identifier.
- 5. Use the right bait and click it on the trap
- 6. To get the Antwerp through the maze change your skill level and
- your speed control to low in the Control Panel.
- 7. Open the door to the Key Maze.
- 8. Maneuver the Antwerp slowly to the key and out through the side.
- 9. To solve the Keyhole Puzzle set your skill level to low and use
- the help key on the puzzle bar.
- 10. After you solve the puzzle, click the set of keys on the door.
- 11. Talk to Dr. Cranium and obtain potions and flasks from him by
- helping him with his ingredients.
- 12. To find out what the missing ingredients are look up the word he
- gives you in your Technical Manual.

- *** The Monastery ***
-
- 1. Find a Dark One Sign outside the Dark One's Cave.
- 2. For the blob in the cabinet use the Rehydration Solution from Dr.
- Cranium or some water.
- 3. To get past the Hexapod above the fireplace, go to Dr.Cranium and
- use his animal Identification Machine to learn what a Hexapod eats.
- 4. Feed the Hexapod.
- 5. Pull one of the andirons near the fireplace.
- 6. In the Monastery basement examine the Cask of Amon Tillado.
- 7. Open the poison-trapped desk.
- 8. Read Mad Monk diary.
- 9. Should you be a Thief search for the Magic Statue and pick it up
- using something from the store.
- 10. Should you be a Paladin, try to warm this place up somehow.

- *** The Forest ***
-
- 1. Be nice to the woman in the lake
- 2. Give her something.
- 3. Once she trusts you, ask her about the Swamp and the Will-o-
- wisps.
- 4. To release her, you have to be a Paladin to help the Rusalka.
- 5. Ask the Gypsies about her.
- 6. Find out her real name at the place with the death records.
- 7. Get a broom and some of the Rusalka's hair.
- 8. Sweep the grave of her untrue lover and get him back.
- 9. Do what the Gypsies' told you to do.
- 10. Go to Erana's Garden southeast of town.
- 11. Go in it from the south.
- 12. Here Magic Users can get magical fruit that restores Mana.
- 13. Should you be a Magic User, investigate the garden for other
- magical places.
- 14. Use the Detect Magic spell.
- 15. The Faerie Queen can be met south of Erana's Garden at night if
- you are a Magic User.
- 16. In your battle with the Faeries, summon Erana's Staff and use all
- of its protective spells.
- 17. To solve the Leshy's Bush Quest head to the Leshy near the Dark
- One's Cave by the swamp.
- 18. Find the bush in the room by the slippery path on the right side
- of the screen.
- 19. Once you've removed the bush, take it to Erana's Garden and
- replant it.
- 20. To help the captured Gypsy find Igor, the
- gravedigger.
- 21. If you are a thief, build up your skills by breaking into the
- Burgomeister's Office window at night.
- 22. Set the Gypsy free after finding Igor.
- 23. Crossing the Fortune Teller's palm with silver.
- 24. Ask her about sacrifices

- *** The Graveyard ***
-
- 1. From the Town Gate head south two forest squares.
- 2. Head east two forest squares.
- 3. Go north.
- 4. Should you be a Fighter, use your strength to move the fallen
- tombstone.
- 5. If you are a Thief, climb the tree and use the rope on the pulley
- and raise the Tombstone.
- 6. Use a spell if you are a Magic User.
- 7. To aid Rusalka as a Paladin, put her hair on the broom and sweep
- the right grave.
- 8. Slay the villain.
- 9. To enter Borgov's Tomb, ask Igor for the key after you've helped
- him.
- 10. Find the Borgov crest on the floor of the tomb, look at the
- colors and think of whose crest it might be.
- 11. Solve the puzzle and get a key to a secret passageway to the
- castle, behind the rightmost coffin.

- *** Baba Yaga ***
-
- 1. To find Baba Yaga's, help the Leshy and he'll give you the magical
- phrase in riddle form.
- 2. Alternatively, ask the Gypsies about Baba.
- 3. Head to the farthest southeast forest room.
- 4. Here a Magic User can cast some spells to deal with the protective
- magic here, while a Thief can try going over the barrier.
- 5. Should you have different skills, use the talk icon on your
- character and recite the magical phrase.
- 6. Head west.
- 7. To deal with the Skull guard, help him with his problem and inform
- someone of his missing wife.
- 8. Return to them a few times once they together, and you can get the
- thing you need to give the skull.
- 9. To deal with the running hut, find some chickenfeed by the town
- gate.
- 10. Once Baba Yaga tells you to get elderbury pie, look for the
- killer bush in the south-central part of the forest.
- 11. A Fighter or Thief can knock some down at long range and then
- lure the bush away with something to get the berries.
- 12. A Magic User just needs to knock the berries off with a spell and
- then pick them up with another one.
- 13. To make pie buy the pie pan from town shop.
- 14. Get an empty flask.
- 15. Head to the slippery path by the Dark One's Cave.
- 16. Take some goo.
- 17. Make bonemeal once you pick up the bone from the west edge of the
- swamp.
- 18. Bring the bones to Baba's hut and grind in the mortar using the
- pestle.
- 19. Fill an empty flask with bonemeal.
- 20. Put all the ingredients together in inventory.
- 21. Click the mixture on one of the skulls to bake it.
- 22. To get the Gnome's Humor back, inform Baba about the Gnome.
- 23. Feed Baba Yaga to get some information about the Dark One and a
- magical ritual.
- 24. Magic Users can also obtain a new spell from her.

- *** The Castle ***
-
- 1. Explore the castle a little.
- 2. To locate Tanya, use the secret entrance into the castle, leave
- the room to the right.
- 3. Head North in the following room and use the stairs.
- 4. Find the secret passageway behind the bookshelves leading to the
- other side of the castle.
- 5. Exit the room, use the stairs, and leave the following room on the
- left.
- 6. The stairs here take you to Tanya's room.
- 7. To help Tanya, give her something from home. Ask the Gypsies about
- a sacrifice.
- 8. To escape the dungeon, use the Do icon on the chains to break them
- if you are a fighter.
- 9. A Thief can use his skills.
- 10. A Magic User can use his spells.
- 11. When you are free of the chains examine the Iron Maiden as it has
- a way out.
- 12. To avert being killed by Ad Avis in Katrina's room, attempt to
- wake her up with a kiss, or by speaking with her.

- *** The Dark One's Rituals ***
-
- 1. To learn the Heart Ritual you have to slay the powerful Wraith if
- you're a Fighter, Paladin, or Thief.
- 2. The Wraith is three screens south of the Town gate, two east, and
- another three south.
- 3. Get also protection from the Gypsies and practice developing your
- fighting or throwing skills.
- 4. Should you be a Magic User bring Erana's Staff to the Faerie Folk.
- 5. To learn the Blood Ritual go to the Monastery's basement and use
- Amontillado instead of Madeira.
- 6. To learn the Breath Ritual, go to Spielburg has this one and don't
- forget to bring Baba Yaga something she'll enjoy eating when you
- visit her.
- 7. To learn the Sense Ritual, go to the swamp.
- 8. Head to the Mad Monk's Tomb.
- 9. Should you be a Fighter or Paladin, ensure you are in perfect
- physical strength first since you'll need it to get there.
- 10. Should you be a Thief, use your Acrobatics skills to go from dry
- land to dry land.
- 11. Magic Users use a spell but steer clear of the Hands.
- 12. After you get there, kill the bad guys.
- 13. Use the Dark One's Sign on the Tomb.
- 14. Use the rituals in the right order: Mouth, Bone, Blood, Breath,
- Sense, Heart, and Essence.
- 15. Head north to exit the swamp.
- 16. To learn the Bone Ritual. head to the Squid Rock by the Dark
- One's Cave.
- 17. The Gypsies will teach you it.
- 18. Obtain a Will-o-wisp from the swamp by using candy as bait and a
- flask.
- 19. Use the Will-o-wisp on the Squid Stone.
- 20. Once the secret writing is revealed, touch your Dark One's Sign
- on the Stone and spell out the name of the Dark One.
- 21. To learn the Mouth Ritual, go to Katrina. It is the same thing as
- how she got you out of the Dark One's Cave at the game's beginning.
- 22. To learn the Essence Ritual, go inside the Dark One's Cave.
- 23. Locate a book guarded by the former Boyar of Mordavia.
- 24. Should you be a Fighter or Paladin, use the rope to go down and
- then slay the last of the Borgovs.
- 25. Should you be a Thief, use your skills to get down and out.
- 26. Should you be a Magic User, use a spell to relax the Boyar before
- going down.
- 27. The rituals are used to summon the Dark One.

- *** The Blood, Breath, and Sense Caves ***
-
- 1. The Blood Altar is a large bowl to the right of the picture.
- 2. Go down the path as much as it goes, and then climb up to the
- upper path.
- 3. Should you be a Magic User, levitate up with a spell.
- 4. The other professions can use the Rope and Grapnel.
- 5. Perform Acrobatics on the bottom shelf and then on the Altar
- platform to return to the Altar.
- 6. Do the Blood Ritual on the Altar.
- 7. Leave the cave without the acid killing you.
- 8. To leave the Blood Cave use your Grapnel to climb up to the shelf
- just above the Altar if you are a Fighter and then push the rock.
- Climb down with the rope and go to the lower path and leave.
- 9. Should you be a Magic User use the Frost Bite spell on the spout
- of acid flowing from the Altar head and use the spell again on the
- spout from the base of the Altar. Head across the frozen blood and go
- down the path to leave.
- 10. Should you be a Thief, go up to the upper shelf the same way you
- came down and use your Acrobatics skills to go to the central island
- and then to get to the main path use them again.
- 11. To do the Breath Ritual over to the Altar, to the statue with
- many tentacles on the left.
- 12. Read the Breath Ritual for instructions.
- 13. Blow into a tentacle using the hand icon on it.
- 14. Begin with the rightmost tentacle on top.
- 15. Do the leftmost tentacle on the side and then the center tentacle
- of the middle group.
- 16. Now do the large black tentacle on top.
- 17. To escape the winds as either a Fighter or Paladin reach for one
- of the tentacles to the screen's right side. After your are flung to
- the ground, run to the exit and leave.
- 18. Stay on the side of the screen nearest the screen to leave.
- 19. To escape the winds as a Magic User wait for until a pause
- between breaths when your character is out of sight inside the lung
- valve and then use a Calm spell. Now use an Open spell on the valve
- and run for the exit before the wind begins.
- 20. To escape the winds as a Thief, grab a page from the mime's book
- and climb an invisible wall.
- 21. After he is up against the screen's front use the Hand anywhere
- on the right and after you've climbed down, race to the exit staying
- on the side of the screen nearest the exit to avoid the winds.
- 22. In the Sense Cave, bump into something to get back your sense of
- touch.
- 23. Make your way to the left and up until you get your sense of
- smell back.
- 24. Now continue up and then to the right to get your hearing back.
- 25. Go to your right until you get your sight back.
- 26. To do the Sense Ritual, go over to the Altar on the right.
- 27. Do the Sense Ritual at the Altar.
- 28. To avoid getting burned as a Fighter, use your Grapnel on the
- horseshoe-shaped object and swing down to the nose platform and
- escape by timing your run through the hazard.
- 29. To get as a Magic User, summon Erana's Staff and use the
- Resistance spell.
- 30. Time the zaps to avoid them.
- 31. Use a Lightning Ball spell on the Dendrites.
- 32. Should you run out of Mana, summon Erana's Staff to restore it.
- 33. To avoid being burnt as a Thief, sue your Grapnel on the
- horseshoe-shaped object and swing down to the nose platform.
- 34. Head over the cluster near the exit by using the Grapnel on the
- looped area at the Altar's base.

- *** Additional Caves ***
-
- 1. To slay the Priest Horror in the Cave Pit and are a Magic User or
- Thief, be as quiet as you can.
- 2. If you are a Fighter or Paladin, duck the acid, go forward a bit,
- duck again etc.
- 3. When close enough, use your sword.
- 4. In the Bone Cave, light the Torches and on the Alter, replace your
- torch.
- 5. Touch the Altar's Bone Ritual.
- 6. Examine it.
- 7. Use the Dark One's Sign on the Sand.
- 8. Make a sign from the bones and use the Bone Ritual at the Altar
- again.
- 9. A Thief employs his Acrobatics skills, the Fighter attacks the
- bone cage, and a Magic User uses spells of
- 10. opposite temperatures to make the bones weak and then breaks.
- 11. Take the magic torch before leaving.
- 12. Do the other first four Rituals of Bone, Blood, Breath, and Sense
- before doing the Heart Ritual.
- 13. Use the Heart Ritual on the Altar's center.
- 14. Heal up and go up through the new passage in the ceiling.
- 15. A Magic User use Levitate and other characters use the Grapnel.

- *** Essence Cave ***

- 1. Should you be a Magic User, summon Erana's Staff and cast
- protective spells.
- 2. Tell the Ultimate Joke.
- 3. When Ad Avis is powerless, use a Force Bolt on him.
- 4. Use the Dark and the use the Staff on the big crystal.
- 5. If you are a Thief, use Erana's Staff and tell the Ultimate Joke.
- 6. When Ad Avis is powerless, use your Acrobatics skills to kill him.
- 7. Use the Staff on the crystal.
- 8. If you are a Fighter or Paladin, use Erana's Staff.
- 9. Tell him the Ultimate Joke and when the Vampire is powerless, use
- the Staff to slay him
- 10. Use the Staff on the crystal.
