  3. well, MPEG 2.0 for windows3.x is now available !
  4.  
  5. It is the digital Video player via a software only solution !
  6.  
  7. It displays in a 320x240 window (or 160x120)under win3.x a realtime decompressed
  8. digital video !
  9.  
  10. Decompression is done only by software and it reaches
  11. 30 frames/sec on a 486 PC !
  12.  
  13. The new 2.0 version of the Xing Player has a very enhanced picture quality,
  14. because the
  15. compression ratio with the encoder can now be adjusted !
  16.  
  17. Also  it runs now on every SVGA card that at least can display 640x480x256
  18. colors under win3.1. When the DIB driver is enabled, it runs on every
  19. 256 color windows driver ! (then it goes through the win3.1 interface of
  20. your win3.1 driver from your card, which is surely slower than the direct
  21. DLL drivers)

  23. The very new thing is the WAV-Sound support !
  24.  
  25. So if you have a soundcard inside your PC, you will have a real
  26. video-clip with accompagning sound !

  28. We currently have 3 demo disks with the full featured Player, version
  29. 2.0b  and lots of animations on the disks.

  31. The full featured version includes Video and Sound editor.
  32.  
  33. There is also  a free 2.0 version without video and sound-editor.
  34. It is available via FTP from :
  35. phoenix.oulu.fi (130.231.240.17)  in   pub/incoming/mpeg2_0  and is called
  36. mpegexe.zip

  38. It maybe has already been moved to:  pub/mpeg  Look also there.
