Purpose: Converts HTML to Plain Text, Impression, or Draw Textarea format.
Extracts bookmarks from links found on HTML pages.
Author: Mike Williams
mike@econym.demon.co.uk
Usage: Choose the output format you require from the iconbar menu.
Drag a HTML file to the UnHTML icon on the iconbar
After a few seconds a save box will open
Drag the resulting text to a filer or application
Plain Text Format:
The HTML tags are ripped out, special characters are converted,
but no formatting is applied.
Impression Format:
As many HTML tags as possible are processed and the appropriate
effects are included in the Impression document. This format works
with Impression Publisher and Impression Style.
Draw Textarea Format:
As many HTML tags as possible are processed and the appropriate
effects are included in the Draw Textarea.
Drag the resulting text file to the !Draw iconbar icon (not an
open Draw window), find the little text area box and drag it out
to the required size. If it's invisible, which can happen, perform
a "select all" operation to find it.
Bookmark Formats:
Find a page full of useful links, and use this to capture the
links in the appropriate bookmark format for your browser.
UnHTML ignores links which are relative to the current page as
these are unlikely to be useful in a bookmark file, and only
captures those with a complete URL.
Termite Bookmarks:
Save the file in the !TermiteIP.Options.Bookmarks directory.
To access the new bookmark file, use Termite's "Bookmarks: Change
File" option.
ArcWeb Hotlists:
Save the file in the !ArcWeb.wwwcache.BookMarks directory.
To access the new bookmark file, use ArcWeb's "Change Hotlist"
option.
Webster Hotlists:
Save the file in the !Webster.Hotlists directory.
In order to access the new Webster Hotlist you need to build a link
to it from one of the other Hotlist files (See !Webster.Docs.hotlists).
Body colour:
If you prefer the Impression or Draw document to ignore text and
background colours, switch off this toggle. In particular, this
is useful if a text colour ends up being the same as the
background colour.
Bugs: With something as complex and loosely defined as HTML there's
bound to be things that UnHTML doesn't cope with correctly. I'd
prefer it if you'd report bugs to me directly, where there's a
reasonable chance that I might fix them.
