ConvList - An ArcWeb bookmark <-> Fresco hotlist convertor
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
© Liam Gretton, January 1997
This application is Freeware
ConvList is a small application for converting between ArcWeb's bookmarks and
Fresco's hotlist. It requires RISC OS 3.10 or later, as well as Acorn's
Toolbox modules.
This version is at the beta stage. Although I've not had any problems, I'm
not vouching for its stability. Make sure you make a back-up of your Fresco
hotlist before using it, and please let me know of any bugs encountered.
Double-clicking on the !ConvList icon installs the program on the iconbar.
Clicking on the iconbar icon opens the conversion window. From here you can
select whether to convert your Fresco hotlist to ArcWeb bookmarks or vice
versa.
The main window shows the locations of ArcWeb's bookmark directory and
Fresco's hotlist file. If ArcWeb or Fresco haven't been 'seen' by the Filer,
the relevant icon will show 'Not found.' Open the filer window on ArcWeb or
Fresco, and click on ConvList's iconbar icon to set matters right.
Clicking on the 'Convert' button starts the conversion process. The folder or
bookmark currently being updated is displayed near the bottom of the
conversion window.
Below are some details of the conversion processes.
ArcWeb -> Fresco
————————————————
Each ArcWeb bookmark file becomes a hotlist folder. The new folder is
appended to the existing hotlist file. It's a good idea to quit !Hotlist
before converting your ArcWeb bookmarks, as !Hotlist often updates the URLs
with 'last-time accessed' details. It does this by writing the whole file it
loaded on start-up back to the disc. The same thing can happen if you decide
to save your hotlist after a conversion.

I can be mailed at liam@binliner.demon.co.uk, or ljg@star.le.ac.uk, which
will probably get you a faster response. I'm away on holiday (yippee!) from
Saturday 25th Jan until Monday 10th Feb, so don't expect a reply during that
period.
